We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anastasia Artemiou a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Anastasia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe it takes hard work, and a strong mindset to be successful. Being a business owner is not for the weak minded, and that’s okay. It isn’t for everyone. I went through a lot of ups and downs and figuring out what works and what doesn’t.

Anastasia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Anastasia, I am 26 years old. I am from Charlotte NC and my brand is called Doll Like Beauty and I specialize in Lash Extensions, No Needle Lip fillers and Brows. I also am an educator so I teach classes for Beginner Lash extensions, and No Needle Lip fillers as well as refreshers for that service.
I solve the problem of getting ready in the morning and being able to just wake up and go. No longer needing to spend so much time on your appearance before you need to be somewhere.
I am most proud of my classes as I really want to help others make a good living doing something they love doing. I have helped students make $200-$400 an hour offering the lip services alone. I take pride in helping others make that bag just like me. I help build confidence.
Doll Like Beauty strives to help everyone feel good about themselves.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
On tiktok I built my following to 58K. It took sometime but I was sharing about my health conditions and just my everyday life and my following loved it. I share day in my life, vlogs and behind the scenes of my business on there. Some advice would be to just be yourself and people love to see what you are up to. If you were gonna do something anyway, why not film it? Everything you do can be made into content.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
When I first started doing lashes it was 100% my side hustle. I knew eventually I wanted it to be my full time career but I just didn’t know what the future held for me. I was living in my first small apartment, I started lashing in my living room and working as a Assistant manager in a popular restaurant in a small town. All of my beginner clients were my co workers which was amazing, it gave me more practice plus taking more pictures to build my portfolio. This did happen right when covid took over so I had a very large break.
Eventually I moved into my home now and used the “formal dining room” as my studio. I blocked it off with some screens and clients came in and out and never had to see the rest of my home. I was bartending at a night club part time, working at a makeup store and lashing at the same time. Finally one day I decided to quit and I have been full time in my business. Now I have my own salon and have a work life balance. That was my biggest milestone.
