Analysse, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking the risk to use my savings to purchase all my nail products was a defining moment in my journey. As a full-time college student with a passion for the beauty industry, I often felt torn between my education and my dreams. While my parents encouraged me to stay in school, I decided to take an academic break and fully commit to my vision. I dedicated a year to building my clientele and establishing a strong social media presence, believing wholeheartedly that I could create something meaningful out of my love for nails. This leap of faith not only allowed me to pursue my passion but also taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and self-belief.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a 23 year old, Mexican- American nail artist who took a bold step by investing my savings in nail products at 19 years old, while balancing college. My journey into the beauty industry began with a lifelong love for creativity and self-expression in the beauty industry. After deciding to take an academic break, I dedicated a year to building my clientele and establishing my social media presence, showcasing my work and connecting with clients.
I specialize in providing custom nail designs, nail care, and unique artistic styles that cater to individual preferences. What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building my reputation within the market has been a combination of several key factors. I believe my genuine approach to customer service—taking the time to understand each client’s preferences and building personal relationships—has fostered trust and loyalty.
Social media has also been a powerful tool for showcasing my work and engaging with a wider audience. Sharing behind-the-scenes content, client transformations, and tutorials has not only allowed me to show my love for nails and content creation, but also created a sense of community.
Client referrals and social media posts have been crucial in building my reputation. When clients share their experiences and showcase their nail designs, it not only highlights my work but also builds trust within their community. It’s incredibly rewarding to see my clients take pride in sharing their nails and recommending me to others! Together, these elements have helped me establish a strong reputation and a dedicated following in the beauty industry.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A pivotal moment for me came when I decided to fully commit to pursuing my passion for nails. I realized that to truly succeed and offer the best services, I needed to obtain the proper licensing. This meant I had to step back from working and practicing to attend nail school, which lasted six months.
This was a tough decision because it meant putting my business on hold and sacrificing immediate income. However, I knew that the education and skills I would gain were essential for my growth as a nail artist. During those months, I focused on absorbing as much knowledge as I could, learning new techniques and understanding the industry standards.
While it was challenging to step away, this pivot ultimately strengthened my foundation and set me up for success. Once I completed my training, I returned with renewed confidence and expertise, ready to take my business to the next level. This experience taught me the importance of investing in myself and my craft, and it made me appreciate the journey even more.
