We recently connected with Analeia Bella Madden and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Analeia Bella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My father is a musician, my mother was an oil painter – both very whimsical and unique in their styles. They are both beautiful, creative, talented, inspiring people who have always encouraged me to follow what makes me happy. My childhood was magical. It was filled with art projects, peacocks, butterflies, and pure artistic passion and intention.
When I was young I would be wake up in the middle of the night to find my mother listening to downtempo electronica painting towering canvases of angelic women. Instead of telling me to go back to bed, she would invite me to come paint with her. Those moments are the foundation for what I value and how I want to live today.
Analeia Bella, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! I am Analeia Bella. I have always been an illustrator but I recently found a passion for fashion design. I marry fashion and illustration by printing my art on fabrics. The pieces are doll-like, anime influenced, and bold. Think little bo peep x alice in wonderland x high fashion streetwear. :D
I have gotten into the fashion industry through seeing that I can provide a different, joyous perspective to fashion. My pieces are being received by people in a special way. I am excited to be able to be able to share my craft and have it seen on people out in the world.
I am new to the fashion world, so far I have created two collections (Whimsy and Sherbert). Now, I am in the works to be selling my art and clothes to the public for the first time! I will be debuting my first sellable pieces in January! I believe I can offer clothes that are new, unique that can resonate with and hopefully inspire people.
I am most proud of the special pieces I have created so far and I want my potential clients to know that I will be authentic, be able to add joy, and channel whimsy and confidence to life through my clothes :3.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I went to the Fashion Design Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). Through out school, I was going through a life transition phase that made it hard to focus and take in everything that I was being taught. I wasn’t understanding the technicals of how to make clothes and by the time to graduated, I was sure I didn’t want to pursue fashion design at all.
But FIDM saw my potential and they reached out offering me a scholarship to be a part of their Debut program where they gave the resources to make a full collection to showcase. In just those 9 months, I worked my butt off to learn and understand pattern-making and sewing to make an 11 look collection. And I succeeded in ways I couldn’t imagine. I produced something I am so proud of and now it has propelled me to believe I can do anything I put my mind to!
I am resilient and driven by nature and will keep pushing myself to new heights. :D
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission driving my creative journey is to make things that truly make me happy which in turn i hope can make others happy. I want my fashion offer a fun, colorful, whimsical perspective to life. Alice in wonderland on the streets <3 When I see unique, beautiful, original pieces being worn in the world it is so inspiring to me and I want to be a part of that.
