We recently connected with Anaiya Hall and have shared our conversation below.
Anaiya, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I currently manage all of my social media accounts myself. I made that choice because my businesses are not yet at a level that it would be sustainable to increase the size of my team. My advice for new businesses is don’t make the social media until you have the basics of your business solidified.

Anaiya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been creative all my life and struggled with mental health for years. When i started high school i started trying to combine my love of fashion and my passion for mental health. My first business which I still have today is AListDesignsshop and that is a clothing brand centered around promoting self love and confidence through positive sayings on the clothing. I then rediscovered my love of crochet and decided that everyone deserves to have custom clothing that makes them feel like the best version of themselves and have been selling my crochet clothing and accessories at local markets for the past 3 years. What I believe sets me apart is my dedication to promoting good mental health and how the clothing you where truly can affect your mental health. As well as reminding those who may not fit nicely into one box that it’s ok to show and express their individual style. I am most proud of my commitment to seeing my businesses grow regardless of how long it takes. What i want potential clients to know about me is i will always be my most authentic self no matter the room I walk into and will allow my work to speak for itself.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
All of my initial set up costs of my business were covered my me and my mom together.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was the expectation that the first time I launch a business or product that it would immediately take off. It takes time to find your target audience and market to the efficiently. I figured this out with my first business which is now in the stages of being revamped as I realized that I was reaching my intended audience.
