We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anabel Quintanilla. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anabel below.
Anabel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
June 2013 I moved in with my fiancée and the love of my life (literally! I had been in LOVE with him since 1989) and thought I’d hit the jackpot! I had been married twice before to men who turned out to be abusive in many ways and so I thought that life would be delicious as pie from this time forward.
I was wrong. I didn’t realize how accustomed I was to struggling in life. Now that I was in what Marianne Williamson refers to as a “holy relationship,” with an abundance of love, understanding, support and encouragement, I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FUNCTION.
I was used to arguing and making-up; I didn’t know how to be in a harmonious relationship so I sought to create discord as often as possible. I sabotaged myself and my partner so that I could then “fix” it, as that’s how I thought I brought PURPOSE into my life.
I did not know how to be happy. I wanted bliss, but had no idea how to create that.
Thankfully, my now husband did not bite! He remained grounded in his faith & strength and allowed me the space to work through my issues.
Transformational Coaching saved my life, my marriage, and my health.
Through coaching, I came face-to-face with my addictions & sabotage, as well as what I needed to release in order to make room for my physical, emotional, and mental healing.
Through coaching, I was able to accept myself for who I am, what my life had been up to this point (including what losing my mother at the age of 14 did to me as a young girl), and all that I was capable of creating with my strengths and innate wisdom.
Strengths and innate wisdom – two things I was finally able to tap into now that I was no longer living in survival mode.
All of this led to me becoming a board certified Transformational Coach and Holistic Health Practitioner and starting a private practice in 2016! Today, I work with women to help them discover their strengths and innate wisdom so they, too, can begin to heal from abusive relationships and life’s sorrows, and make room for the sacred life they deserve.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am…
My name is…
Somehow these words cannot begin to describe who I am and what I am here to do. For the first time in my 47 years on this beautiful planet, I know that there is so much more to me and to my purpose than my name and title. But that’s where I will begin.
My name is Anabel Quintanilla. I am a Board Certified Transformational Coach and Holistic Health Practitioner who is originally from Los Angeles, CA and now lives in Las Vegas, NV.
I am blissfully (yes, absolutely blissfully) married, and the matriarch of our blended family of 7.
I have learned to overcome the turmoil in my mind that manifested in struggle in the relationship with myself, my body, and my relationships. Today, I use my powerful mind to create peace and harmony in all these areas, and I work with women who are on a similar journey.
I can certainly share one client testimony after another – all of which are flattering and meaningful. But none come close to what my own kids say about me and about what I’ve been able to create since I allowed myself to heal through the power of Transformational Coaching!
My children, the youngest of which is 21, ALL come to my husband and I for guidance. There is nothing too big or too small for us to go through together.
As a family, we have navigated and come out on the other side of depression, suicidal thoughts, toxic relationships, rejection, financial challenges, school issues, and so much more.
It is our children who lend the greatest testimony to the miracle of our lifestyle by saying things like,
“Mom, I really do want to be like you when I have kids. I’m not just saying that.”
“I always ask myself, ‘what would my mom say or do?’ when I’m going through tough times. I always turn to you for direction, even when you’re not around.”
“I want what you and Mike have, mom. I want a relationship like your guys have when I’m married.”
I have taken ALL of my life experiences and used it to create the miracle I am living today, as well as to empower others to heal and create something beautiful for themselves and their loved ones.
I do this through private coaching, group coaching, workshops and countless free resources – both in English and in Spanish!
My mission is to create a space where women can put down their burdens, heal, and then step into their power because we are meant to do great things! And we can. Together, we are strong.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first got into business, I thought that the only way to succeed was to have a complicated system where I could “capture leads” and “convert them to paying clients”. I thought I needed sales funnels and metrics, etc.
I thought that the more you invested into your company and business, the greater your returns would be.
I spent a lot of time, money, and precious energy building something that ultimately turned out to feel ingenuine. I was generating the kind of income I wanted and feeling more removed from my purpose than ever before.
I was measuring success with dollars, like many other business owners do.
True to my beliefs, I hired a life coach myself who reminded me of what I preach and who helped me realign to my values. Massive income and burnout are not part of my values. Joy, Freedom and Empowerment are so I deconstructed everything I had worked so hard to build and started again from Ground Zero – keeping things joyful and simple!
This is how I continue to live & work today – there is no separation between my personal and professional life – I am ONE person and I am the same in all areas of my life.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Showing up authentically, unpolished, and unscripted everywhere I am.
Yes, preparation is important. If I’m speaking or teaching, I most definitely rehearse my message to ensure I hit the mark on what I am trying to convey. What I teach, what I write, what I say… it all comes from the same place of love, vulnerability, power, faith, and purpose.
My focus has shifted from trying to reach the masses to being a beacon of strength for ONE woman at a time. When I speak to my “clientele”, I really am only speaking to ONE woman who needs to hear my message. Maybe that one woman who is going through what I once experienced. Who has the same question I pondered. Who needs to hear the words that once felt like water to my thirsty heart.
I know that many business coaches and experts will say that this is a recipe for failure, but it is working for me. Being truthful to who I am and how I live, and sharing myself with ONE woman at a time is how I am able to create powerful connections with an incredible community of women.
