Anabel, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

I’ve always loved fashion and getting dressed up. I love expressing myself through what I wear. Being in the healthcare industry and having to wear scrubs everyday didn’t allow me to express myself through my clothing, so i found myself spending more money on jewelry. I’d get lots of compliments and my coworkers and patients would ask where i got my jewelry from, which then gave me the idea of starting a jewelry business.

Anabel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

What I love most about my jewelry is the quality and versatility. I sell tarnish free, waterproof, and hypoallergenic pieces at affordable prices. My jewelry is for the hard working woman, mom, gym lover, or anyone who may not have the time to continuously remove their jewelry because it may tarnish or turn your skin green. It is jewelry made to last and keep you stylish all day and night no matter the occasion.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Wearing what i sell and word of mouth. No matter if I am at work, the gym, the beach, I’m always wearing my brand. I am still very new and growing so whenever someone compliments one of my pieces I take the time to introduce myself and my business to any potential customer.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

I sell through my own site using Shopify. Audeluxjewelry.com

Shopify has lots of pros for me. It is very easy to manage and build your website, you do not need any web design experience. They also have a lot of free themes to choose from for your website. Shopify makes it easy to add products, manage your inventory, create shipping labels, and add discount codes to your site.

One of the disadvantages with Shopify is that they do not provide email hosting. So if you want your own business email you’ll have to make one using a third party site such as Google Workspace.
