We were lucky to catch up with Ana Pedro recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
From a very early age, everyone around me said that I would be an artist and make a living painting. At first, I didn’t want to listen to them, I don’t know if it was out of rebellion or because I thought this wouldn’t be my path. Yet here I am! It was not a decision made or considered. It was something that happened, naturally.
I realized, over time, that I would only be happy painting and creating.
Ana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m lucky to be able to say I have more than one job. I love creating. My tools are painting and writing. Nowadays I dedicate myself to watercolor, through paintings and illustrations, as well as writing stories for the little ones. The fantastic world of little ones has always fascinated me.
Through my work, I try to bring the sometimes forgotten magic to others. Among my works you can find portraits, animal paintings, floral paintings, postcards, art prints and illustrations, as well as children’s ebooks.
I hope to soon publish and illustrate my first children’s book.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the best reward is being able to create feelings and emotions in others. It’s raising questions through my work. Not that there is a right or wrong emotion for that specific job. It just needs to be an emotion, no matter what. That makes me happy.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To be honest, there is no specific goal or mission that drives my creative journey. I create because I need to do so to feel fulfilled. Maybe that really is the goal.
