We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ana Maria Marin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ana Maria below.
Hi Ana Maria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea came up when I moved to the US in 2018,and I wanted to start a business with a passion that I had since I was a little girl. I knew that I had a lot of competition in the area, so my first thought was to go with something more unique. I thought of macarons and cakes. I was following some IG pages from Australia and I wanted to do at first some letter boxes filled with macarons and flowers,to call more attention to my product. I made a few at first, but I had to change and start something more innovative.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ana Maria Marin,I was born and raised in Romania. I traveled a bit around the world and I learned about different cultures and especially about food. I’m a foodie and a coffee lover.
I started my journey with baking when I was in Colombia, where I met my husband and I had my second child.
I started baking cakes and sweets with recipes that I found online. In 2014 I went to Pastry School in Bogota, Colombia ISMM Pastry School. In 2018 we made the move to change countries, because my husband was working a lot in the US and I was in Colombia.
The brand of my business came from the main product, macarons.
The word Boutique comes from the French word small store/business.
I had my first client in 2019 at a wedding, where my client asked me for a large order. It was a bit overwhelming and I was happy to create something new and make a portafoglio. In 2020 I really started my business and finally I had my chance do what I love most.
The thing I love about my job is the time when I have to decorate the cake. I love playing with flowers, it gives me so much peace and helps me to create.
When my clients want a cake, they don’t just receive a beautiful cake, they receive a delicious cake too.I always assure my clients that every cake is made from scratch, with fresh fruits and fresh ingredients. I’m proud of my recipes and my clients are happy with the flavors I provide.
I love when my clients say “I know your work,do your thing, create” I always try not to disappoint

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Always trying to surprise my clients with something that they never had.(taste, design) I want them to feel special with my creations on the day of the event.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
