We recently connected with Ana Leal and have shared our conversation below.
Ana, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The legacy I hope to leave behind is one that inspires artists—especially those who doubt their talent or feel they aren’t ‘good enough’—to never give up. I want to be remembered as someone who showed that persistence, faith, and resilience can lead to success, even when the path is uncertain. Failure isn’t the end; in fact, every setback carries valuable lessons that prepare us for greater victories. I also hope to be a voice for people from small towns like mine, reminding them that where you come from does not limit where you can go. Opportunities are out there, and with dedication and belief in yourself, they are within reach.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, my name is Ana Leal. I’m a photographer originally from the beautiful border towns of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and Brownsville, Texas—now living and creating in the vibrant heart of New York City.
My journey with photography began when I was just 13 years old. During a Christmas gathering, I asked my cousin if I could use his camera. When he saw the photo I took, he recognized something special—potential that I hadn’t yet seen in myself. That moment sparked a lifelong passion, and I’ll always be grateful to him for helping me discover this path.
Today, I specialize in capturing authentic love stories, personal projects, and brand narratives. What I love most is blending these worlds—documenting brands with the same emotional depth and storytelling I bring to love stories. That creative fusion has become my signature style.
What sets me apart is my unwavering faith in God and my ability to see light and meaning in every situation—big or small. My clients often tell me they feel at ease when working with me, and that’s something I hold close to my heart. Whether I’m photographing a wedding, a creative portrait, or a brand campaign, I aim to make people feel seen, valued, and understood.
One of my proudest achievements is being able to say I’ve built a successful photography career in one of the most extraordinary cities in the world. To have found a home—and a supportive, inspiring clientele—in New York City is something I cherish deeply.
More than anything, I want people—especially those from small towns like mine—to know that their dreams are valid, and that with faith, passion, and perseverance, anything is possible.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is embracing the full journey—the highs and the lows. I often describe it as a roller coaster ride, and truly, every twist and turn is worth it. There’s something deeply fulfilling about pushing through the challenges and still choosing to create from the heart. One of the most touching moments is when people I’ve never met reach out after seeing my work on social media—when they connect with it, feel something, and acknowledge the emotion and intention behind each image. That kind of connection reminds me why I do what I do. It’s not just about the art itself, but the way it speaks to others

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey is a deeply personal goal—to prove to myself that I am capable of reaching beyond what I once thought possible. It’s not just about chasing success; I’ve come to understand that true happiness doesn’t depend on external achievements. What matters most to me is honoring the promises I’ve made to myself, even when the path gets difficult. Every step, every challenge, is a reminder that I’m growing—and that I’m stronger and more capable than I sometimes believe. My mission is to keep showing up with courage, faith, and a commitment to my own evolution as an artist and as a person.
