We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ana Dévora. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ana below.
Ana , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Being an artist is a risk taking, the artist work as a freelance in a world that is competitive and elitist. You never know if someone would be interested in buying a work from you, and you do it without knowing in advance, you realize that you have to do it because your soul need it, not just for a sale, even though the sales are important to us to continue producing our art.
Then have a stablished career is not easy, and there is no a specific path to choose and follow it up. There are different scenarios from all of us to get into a good exhibition, into a good gallery and being shown at Museums and Fairs around the world.
Definitely is like being an entrepreneur without the team, the entire crew are the artist skills.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Mi name is Ana Dévora, I am an expert in awaken emotions and provoque experiences through the visual arts. I am a Visual Artist in a constant evolution. Born in Madrid, my artworks and I we were moving around te planet Earth since 16 years ago. My aim is to induce the spectator to ask questions to themselves and verify their way of living, to make it happen I use painting, sculpture, photography, video and Installations.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the UCM Madrid, a Master Degree in Cinematography at Shot Acdemy In Rome, and post-graduate in Cinematography by the GCI Los Angeles.
Curious since I born, I studied arts and cinema, and still study and learn by myself as a crucial thing to grow and expand my soul in a large variety of themes that concern the human being and their relationships whit themselves and each other for that I believe that Emotional Intelligence is crucial in any circuit you are working on as well as any relationship you have… all of them feed my soul and all what my hand can touch.
As an Artist who works with art and cinema tools, I have to tell storys that I previously experienced or I am inspired by, to be able to touch hearts and being useful for others.
I am a multidisciplinary artist who uses different techniques and media creating site-specific installations for the benefit of the storytelling of each project, taking into account the relationship and conversation of the works with each other and with the space, with the container. Each technique helps me communicate better with my audience. I make use of both painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, photography, video and sound.
All my projects, regardless of the format and medium chosen to develop them, start from a common premise. Analyze the world and the society in which we live, paying attention to the little things and events that happen to us, to provoke questions in the viewer, that make them analyze their own life and be able to get rid of those limited beliefs that sabotage their life, in a world in which the oversaturation of apparent “real information” from the media creates life models not in accordance with the nature of being, and encourages comparison with others in a competitive and aggressive way, instead of a personal and emotional growth, where one can be free, and decide coherently and consciously what to do, say and be at all times, regardless of the circumstances that surround us.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
About NFT I didn’t make anyone yet, because there are a lot of different platforms nowadays, but I have in mind to start creating pieces for NFT’s, due to I use different mediums. I think is a good opportunity for artists to sell our work, and specially the works in digital and video, that before were more difficult to be sold. For the other hand the NFT’s asure you the track of the work, about price, how many times it has being resell it etc, is like a certificate of authenticity known for everybody interested in tracking the piece

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
First of all, I think Art should be more validated in education, because is a part of a human being that everybody has but just some of us develop it in our lives, just because it have being made less importance than other subjects matters while we grow and study. And finally everything needs creativeness. Behind any brand there is a creative.
For the other hand I think in the US you are more open mind to give opportunities to emerging artists, you like to discover new talents and bet on it.
In Spain the mentality is so different, they bet just if abroad they are already trusting in you, having any gallery, awards etc. It is like a blind closer society made by friendships and mistrust in the majority of the cases, that once you have success they want to work with you.
