We recently connected with Ana Curiel & Angelo Garrido and have shared our conversation below.
Ana & Angelo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Casa AnKan was inspired by a passion for human creativity and the desire to bridge cultures through art. During a trip to Mexico that highlighted the rich narratives behind diverse artistic creations, we envisioned a gallery that not only showcases unique pieces but also celebrates the stories and craftsmanship behind them. We saw a gap in the market for a platform that emphasizes cultural significance and innovation, offering clients more than just art—they gain a meaningful connection to the work. Casa AnKan is our way of fostering a community that appreciates authentic, exclusive, sustainable, and dynamic design, creating a lasting impact by honoring the art of storytelling through curated collections.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Casa AnKan is a collectible design gallery that curates and showcases unique, limited-edition pieces from artists and designers around the world. Our journey into the industry began with a profound love for art and design, which led us to explore different cultures and their artistic expressions. This exploration inspired us to create a hub that celebrates the craftsmanship and stories behind each piece, connecting clients with meaningful, culturally rich works.
At Casa AnKan, we provide carefully curated collections that include furniture, decor, and other collectible design items, each with its own story and artistic value. We aim to solve the problem of impersonal, mass-produced decor by offering clients pieces that reflect individuality, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. What sets us apart is our commitment to showcasing works that are not just beautiful but also meaningful, fostering a deeper connection between the client and the art. Additionally, we distinguish ourselves through our seamless, end-to-end service. We pride ourselves on offering impeccable customer service, making the entire process—from curation to delivery and installation—smooth and hassle-free. As a one-stop shop, we ensure that every detail is handled with precision, providing a perfect experience for our clients.
We are most proud of the relationships we’ve built with artists and clients, and the community we are nurturing around authentic design. The main thing we want potential clients and followers to know is that Casa AnKan is about more than just aesthetics; it’s about bringing stories to life through design, creating spaces that inspire and reflect personal narratives. We are here to offer a unique, thoughtful experience, and we are excited to continue growing and sharing this journey with our community.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One story that illustrates our resilience goes back to the early days of launching Casa AnKan in 2023. We thought that within months of launching, we would have our first sale, but the reality was very different. It took much longer than expected and required a lot more patience, perseverance, and knocking on doors. At the start, we had absolutely zero presence or reputation in the industry, which made it difficult to gain the trust of artists and designers. Many were hesitant to work with us, not knowing if we could deliver on our promises.
But rather than being discouraged, we took it as a challenge to prove ourselves. We knew that building a meaningful brand takes time, and we were committed to doing the hard work behind the scenes. Slowly, we have built relationships, and demonstrated our dedication.
The journey has not been easy, and it has required a lot of patience, but we are learning to trust the process and stay focused on our long-term vision. We now have a stronger foundation, having earned the trust of both artists and clients, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see our gallery grow, even if it has taken longer than we initially anticipated.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been our persistence and consistency in outreach. We’ve been very adamant about engaging directly through email, calls, and following potential clients on social media platforms. It takes a lot of effort, but we believe that building genuine relationships starts with consistent communication. By staying engaged and following up regularly, we’ve been able to keep Casa AnKan top of mind and show our dedication to the work and the people we want to collaborate with. Over time, this persistence has helped us build trust and credibility, leading to lasting connections and a growing clientele.
