We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful ANA CHABELA’ MAHONE. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with ANA below.
ANA , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I came up with the idea to start my business after becoming a breast cancer survivor the second time.
This was my skincare business “Bela’s Body Care”. I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor. The way you look & the way you feel is a big deal these days. Your skin, your hair & your body is how you’re perceived most times in this world today. If you look good…you feel good. I wanted to do something to make others smile & feel good about themselves. I knew cancer patients had dry & irritable skin & hair loss. This got me to thinking hey I can help others improve their skin.

ANA , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my first business after becoming a breast cancer survivor the second time. This was my skincare business “Bela’s Body Care”. I procrastinated for years as this had been a dream of mine to own my own business. As a survivor self-care & self-love was beneficial to me. While going through breast cancer my skin was brutal, dry & irritated at times. Plus, I had hair loss. I wanted to make sure I invested in making myself & others feel good about themselves even while going through a type of illness. I wanted to formulate & create natural products for both men & women with all types of skin.
During covid I quit my hospital job to work on my skincare fulltime. My best sellers are youthful glow body oil & anti-aging cream. This was my passion; my calling & I take pride in it. In this business you must have tough skin & not let things get to you. Your priority is keeping things afloat & not feed into negativity.
A lot of doors closed on me, but I never gave up. I took many courses on different streams of income. Today I have 6 businesses now. 1. Skincare: Bela’s Body Care, 2. Wholesale, 3. Dropship, 4. Part owner of salon suites, 5. Brow, Lash & Makeup Mall Kiosk Vendor & 6. Vending Machines
I now have an entire team that consists of 2 assistants who are both lawyers, financial advisor, accountant, website developer/designer, marketing /SOI & logistics. I couldn’t do all this without their help. They free me up from a lot of stress so I can travel, spend time with my husband, kids & family. It really takes a village & a great support system.
I’m blessed with so many creative gifts & talents that’s my purpose. I’m living purposefully now. I love to cook & entertain. I’m kind of shy but I’m not naive. I like going out to eat trying different things, traveling & maybe venturing to a jazz lounge or some event here in Atlanta. I love Fogo de Chao, Steaks & Tacos. I’m a big sports fanatic so I love to watch sports.
Cherish each moment of life. Tomorrow is not promised. I would like to thank my husband Reginald for always supporting me & believing in me. My kids Arie & Jomier who are also entrepreneurs for trusting my visions & my endeavors.
And my mom for always pushing me not to give up & to keep going. And lastly my dad, siblings, extended family & friends for believing in me & my dreams. I’m fortunate to have a big support system!
Remember that you can’t have hate in your heart, be jealous & envious & expect to receive blessings. A lot of people block their blessings & are stuck in life. Be kind, show love. Love always wins.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A story from my journey that illustrates my resilience is I survived breast cancer twice. I started my first business which was skincare shortly after my second time. Now I have 6 businesses…a serial entrepreneur.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
The advice I have for managing a team and high morale. I make them feel like they are apart of a family. I let them have a voice & make suggestions. I also give bonuses & incentives often. Give generously during the holidays & let everyone have time with their families. It’s also important to have an assistant. I have 2 assistants & both are lawyers.
