Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ana Barrera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ana , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it takes a combination of things but it starts with passion. You need to make sure you are passionate about what you are trying to accomplish because you will inevitably face challenges that will wear you down. Sometimes these challenges will seem impossible at first and make you feel like throwing in the towel. Passion wont let you do that – it will push you when you feel you cant go another step. It will resolve the unsolvable by not allowing you to surrender. It will force you to consistently try when you probably feel you have nothing left in the tank. While other factors are undeniably needed to be successful, it is my passion for marketing that continuously pushes me to accomplish bigger and better things.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I have always had a passion for marketing and while I felt my corporate job gave me plenty of real world experience, I felt there was more to learn. I ended up attending Florida International University where I obtained a Masters of Science in Marketing as well as a bachelors in Business Administration.. I have also been Harvard University certified in Sustainable Business Strategy.
When we first established Succession Marketing, we tried a conservative approach by juggling a 9 to 5 while instituting our business by juggling our 9 to 5. This made time our biggest enemy.
Through trials and tribulations we were able to identify more efficient ways to service our customers without sacrificing the quality we always wanted to deliver. This helped us through those turbulent times until we could eventually focus strictly on Succession Marketing.
These experiences taught us that all business owners, particularly start ups, have a common challenge: time.
Unfortunately, online marketing, particularly social media, often times gets pushed down in priority for items that require immediate attention. While this is understandable, social media marketing in this day and age should be considered a top priority as it could mean the difference between having a successful business or one who’s doors closed much too early.
We here at Succession Marketing understand this importance as well as the challenge. It is because of this understanding that we offer a complete solution to a company’s online marketing needs while providing full visibility of efforts and progress. We want to provide a business with all of the benefits of a solid online marketing strategy without sacrificing the owners most valuable asset: Time

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We both met while working entry level positions at a motorclub company. We quickly climbed ranks and followed similar paths of success within the organization though we branched out into different departments ( I climbed up the Marketing corporate ladder while he focused on Operations). By the time we were ready to move on we realized the skills we developed really complemented one another so we decided to go into business together. His attention to processes and efficiencies helps me focus on marketing strategies and client relations. Our combined efforts have definitely helped get us to where we are today.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Yes, my advice: SOCIALIZE.! Sometimes we get so caught up on trends and hashtags that we forget what these platforms were truly built for: socializing. Nothing makes a brand stronger than having a community standing behind it. Social Media lets you do that so long as you can dedicate time and effort to make sure you are interacting with anyone that may be potentially interested in what you are offering. Unfortunately, time is not a luxury for many small business owners. We understand this completely which is why we focus on alleviating this aspect of business for any owner who feels they are currently juggling too much already.
