We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ana Barragan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Boudoir photography is more than just sexy it’s about empowerment, self love, and self acceptance we live in a world were society and especially social media makes us belive we are not enough whether it’s our weight or or our aging skin.
My goal is to make anyone that comes to me feel beautiful is their current stage of life, after all it’s nice to be reminded that we are enough and beautiful in our own ways. Making my clients happy is always the goal and it means the world to me to make them smile.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ana Born in Texas raised in Mexico by my grandmother. As a little girl ans even into adulthood I struggled with self love and acceptance I’ve always struggled with body image it wasn’t until the age of 24 I chose to book a boudoir session for myself it was nerve-wracking I was shy and felt ugly, but the Photographer made me feel comfortable and when I got the final edits I was mesmerized by how i looked, the feelings that came from it i felt so empowered and beautiful! I never stopped thinking about it and I wanted to help others feel just that! So as couple of years later I decided to start my own boudoir photography and since my love for capturing all special moments has grown. I love helping my clients feel comfortable during their session and before by asking all the right questions and answering all the questions they might have
I also try to work with clients on what fits their budget and I also try my best to deliver the type of editing they want I am always learning new editing skills I love communicating with my clients to make sure they love what they receive at the end. I am selling and experience that will forever stay with them.
And just know that I still have my days especially after babies I don’t recognize my body but a session is always a good pick me up!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The absolute most rewarding aspect of what I do is helping you feel beautiful and capturing amazing moments whether is by yourself, your soupmate or with your family. The smiles that come from this moment and the memories that will last a lifetime.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Oof! So when I first started social media was definitely my biggest nightmare! I would have anonymous girls say negative things about my photography what’s worse is that I was going through PPD with my first baby so it was hurtful to read some of these comments at the time I was charging I belive $50 as I was a beginner and even that was an issue according to this anonymous person, I cried for about 5 minutes but I reminded myself why I wanted to do this so I pushed and I met amazing photographers who gave me a few pointers and I am so grateful for them, with every session I learn something new editing can be hard but my love for photography keeps me going
