We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ana Araujo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Since I was a little girl watching movies and music videos, Britney Spears and Hillary Duff were my biggest inspiration growing up. I didn’t know at the time what I wanted to become growing up, but everything related to performing, communicating, playing dress up in front of the mirror felt like something I wanted to be doing all day long.
Ana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’d describe myself as a Self-Love Enthusiast that also LOVES fashion. When I started creating content it was mainly fashion and style. But I knew inside of me there was a bigger message for me to comunicate with my audience. That’s when I took a step back and started thinking how could I combine these two passions of mine, and that’s when I realized that a very important side of how you look and how yo dress, is in how you feel, you have to truly love yourself and embrace who you are to become the best version of you.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That even though “many people are doing the same things as you” it will never be the same, because no one in this world can make things like you can, and that is your power. That everything is already been made and said, but the uniqueness that you have to express these “same” ideas, will make them yours.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
To always be you, don’t try to act or be like someone else, because your audience can tell and feel what you transmit to them. I must admit it’s not something easy to do at first because it becomes a really vulnerable place because being by completely you, you are giving others the space to “judge” and you must be really strong mentally for those negative comments. But definitely th good comments will always be bigger than the bad ones.
