We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Vance a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was in college working for a pipeline company and needed extra money to pay for college, study abroad and pay for living expenses, so I started my concierge company on the side and then went full-time with it when I went to grad school. We offer professional organizing and personal assistant services to businesses and individuals for 17 years.
At the time the professional organizing and concierge industry was not nearly what it is today. Everyday and project is different which makes it exciting and fun.

Amy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

At the time the professional organizing and concierge industry was not nearly what it is today. Everyday and project is different which makes it exciting and fun. We specialize in move management and holiday services.
We help businesses and individuals get tasks done they don’t have time to do or don’t want to do through professional organizing and personal assistance. We love building relationships with clients, as some of our clients we have been working with for 10+ years.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
We have to pivot in this business on a very regular basis. We are constantly thrown challenges (like scheduling, products not available, etc.) To be in the professional organizing and concierge business is not for the faint of heart. It requires a lot of hard-work, long hours, being on your feet all day, etc. so pivoting to different situations is a must. Since we specialize in move management there are constant factors that are changing like move dates, supply chain issues, construction not finishing on time, etc.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Since we have been in business since 2005 our best source of new clients at this point is referrals. We are beyond appreciative for all clients because we wouldn’t be in business if it wasn’t for them.
