Hi Amy , thanks for joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I am genuinely happy as a business owner. The freedom to make my own decisions, pursue my passion, and see my ideas come to life is incredibly satisfying. I’ve found a sense of purpose in running my own business, and it aligns perfectly with my career goals and personal values. While it can be challenging at times, the rewards and sense of achievement I get from it outweigh any difficulties. I love the flexibility it offers and the opportunity to build something meaningful.
As for the idea of a regular job, I appreciate the stability it provides, but I feel that I would miss the independence and control I have as a business owner. My current role allows me to strike a balance between work and life, and I value the connections I’ve built in the business world. So, for now, I’m happy with my entrepreneurial journey and wouldn’t trade it for a regular job. It’s all about finding what makes you truly content, and I’ve found that in entrepreneurship.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a college graduate with a degree in fashion merchandising, I embarked on a remarkable journey that showcased my versatility and entrepreneurial spirit. Initially, I obtained certification in personal training during a challenging period, navigating a divorce. Using my newfound expertise, I began training women from the comfort of my own home. This experience laid the foundation for my subsequent ventures. I transitioned into owning and operating a personal training studio, which later evolved into the creation of the innovative group fitness concept, Stellar Bodies. Recognizing the potential in this fitness niche, I decided to focus exclusively on group fitness classes, ultimately divesting the personal training aspect. Additionally, I expanded my horizons by curating and stocking a comprehensive boutique of activewear and athleisure clothing, bringing a fashionable dimension to fitness. To further extend my reach, I established an online shop, showcasing my ability to adapt and thrive in the ever-evolving world of fitness and fashion.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Navigating the challenging process of separating from a business partner of over a decade was a profound and emotional journey. It involved not only the dissolution of a professional relationship but also the unraveling of a shared vision that had been central to my life for years. The decision to buy out their shares at Stellar Bodies and, in turn, release my own shares in a fitness concept that no longer resonated with my personal journey was undoubtedly one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever made. It meant letting go of something that had been a significant part of my professional identity. However, in doing so, I found the strength to prioritize my own path and vision, aligning my efforts with a venture that truly felt like an authentic extension of myself. This transition, while fraught with hardships, ultimately led to newfound clarity and a renewed sense of purpose in my entrepreneurial journey.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
In my industry, acquiring new clients necessitates a multifaceted approach that combines various strategies to create a compelling and holistic experience. Firstly, having well-trained instructors who are not only experts in their field but also passionate about what they do is crucial. They serve as the cornerstone of client trust and loyalty. Additionally, effective marketing strategies play a pivotal role in attracting potential clients, making them aware of the unique offerings we provide. Collaborating with platforms like ClassPass expands our reach to a broader audience. However, beyond the initial attraction, the key to retaining clients lies in exceptional customer service. Building meaningful relationships and addressing individual needs fosters loyalty. Furthermore, creating a welcoming and inclusive community within our space is paramount. When clients feel like they belong and are part of something greater, it not only keeps them coming back but also encourages them to bring new members into our fitness family. In essence, it’s the synergy of these elements that forms the best approach for acquiring and retaining clients in our industry.
