We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amy McGann. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amy below.
Alright, Amy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Some projects change the way a business looks. Others change the way a business feels.
But every once in a while, a project does something even bigger. It reflects someone back to themselves. That’s what my branding project with Déjà Revél was.
When Kara came to me, she already knew exactly who she was as an artist. Her work was undeniable—layered, transformative, deeply human. Her clients raved about the way she made them feel, about how they saw themselves in ways they never had before.
But her brand?
It wasn’t reflecting that depth.
Her old brand, Midnight Sun Boudoir, was functional but disconnected. It was built around where she used to be, not where she was going. The colors, the website flow, the client experience… It wasn’t wrong, but it wasn’t her.
So we started from the ground up, with strategy.
Before we touched design or color palettes, we went deeper. We rooted into the soul of the brand.
We explored brand archetypes, mapping out the energy Kara wanted her brand to embody and the feeling she wanted to evoke in her clients. And when we landed on the archetypal story of the Magician, everything clicked.
The Magician isn’t just about transformation. It’s about revelation. It’s about seeing beyond the surface, guiding people to uncover what’s already within them, and creating an experience that feels almost otherworldly.
And isn’t that exactly what Kara does as a boudoir photographer?
She doesn’t just photograph women. She holds up a mirror (sometimes literally, sometimes metaphorically) and helps them see themselves in ways they never have before. She draws out something powerful, something undeniable, something already there but perhaps never fully seen.
So when Kara landed on the new brand name of Déjà Revél, which means already revealed, she knew. It was her.
From there, everything else unfolded with so much ease.
We redesigned her brand identity, full of luxe electric green tones and a reflective monogram to symbolize her signature mirror poses, the moment of recognition when a woman sees herself clearly for the first time.
We rebuilt her client experience, from custom booking guides to session prep guides, ensuring every touchpoint felt like she was personally walking her clients through the experience.
We built a Showit website that matched the flow of her client experience, so that from the first click, women felt something. They saw themselves. They knew they belonged here.
We reimagined her entire studio interior design, so that stepping inside her space felt like stepping into the brand.
And almost immediately, she felt the shift. More inquiries. More aligned clients. More confidence in the way her business showed up.
But her words say it best:
“I still stand by your work being the best investment I’ve ever done for my business. I’m obsessed with you and all you create. You took my brand from good to absolutely and undeniably extraordinary. I couldn’t have done it without you and all your resources.”
This project was so meaningful because it wasn’t just a brand or website redesign.
It was a reflection.
Kara wasn’t hiring me to create something out of thin air. She was asking me to do what she does for her clients. To hold up a mirror and show her the depth that was already there.
And seeing it all come full circle—to step into that space as her client, to feel firsthand the experience we had designed together—was one of the most surreal, full-circle moments of my career.
Because the best brands don’t just exist.
They hold people.
They call them in.
They create a feeling so strong, so undeniable, that before someone even steps inside, they already know.
And Déjà Revél will always stand out as one of those rare projects where everything aligned. It’s a reminder of why I do this work. Because the right brand doesn’t just represent a business.
It reveals it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
When I’m not riding horses in the backcountry of Montana, I can be found running my brand strategy and design business, Unbridled Form.
I’ve always felt most alive in the presence of horses.
Growing up, my version of church was the soul-stirring energy of a herd running by—the rhythmic thundering of their hooves echoing everything I knew to be wildly true. Yet, back then, all I could do was witness with reverence. I never anticipated how much my purpose, my existence, would find its stride with theirs.
Since then, I’ve been fiercely chasing down experiences and people that expand my soul—something my corporate career in marketing could never do. From finding heart-pounding purpose as a firefighter to coming alive in the mountains as a ski patroller, I collect stories like souvenirs. And every one of them has shaped the way I see the world.
But despite finding immense belonging in the stories of my life, something was still missing.
Until four years ago, when I moved out West and met my heart horse on a ranch in Wyoming.
Biscuit wasn’t some pristine, friendly pony like his name hinted. He was scrappy, scarred, and as stubborn as they come. The definition of a one-woman horse, with the body and soul of a mustang. He chose me for my first ride out in the backcountry, and, despite his rough edges, I chose him back.
That season, Biscuit’s old bones and mine went everywhere together.
He took me where I needed to be: over rambling red rocks, along dry desert valleys, through spirit-breaking storms, into stillness under a night sky of stars, and to fields of wildflowers that caught their breath with the rising sun.
Above all, he always led me back to my unbridled self when I needed it most.
& now I exist to do the same for entrepreneurs.
That’s what branding is, too. It’s a homecoming. A return to something you’ve always known but maybe never fully seen.
I help visionaries, artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs build brands that feel like coming home to themselves. My work is about revealing what’s already within you and shaping it into something enduring, magnetic, and deeply personal.
I offer:

But beyond the deliverables, what I truly do is help you see yourself and create a world that holds your people before they ever step inside. Together, we craft something so aligned that the right people recognize it instantly, because it was made just for them.
Okay, now what sets me apart.
I don’t do surface-level branding.
I don’t put importance on fleeting trends.
I create brands that endure.
I believe in story-first branding. Every brand I build is rooted in meaning, in archetypes, in psychology, in the why behind the business.
I blend the poetic with the practical. My work is both artful and strategic. It’s not just about looking beautiful. From building community through storytelling to competitive analysis, creative direction, and identifying a timeless and universal brand story; my clients walk away with an unwavering sense of belonging as well as a backbone to take on their next growth chapter with confidence.
I take on limited clients so I can pour everything into each project. Branding is intimate. I work closely with my clients to create something that feels undeniably like them.
I know what it’s like to want something deeper. My journey (from corporate marketing to the mountains, from structured careers to the wild unknown) has shaped how I approach branding. I understand what it’s like to want something that feels like you.
& what I’m most proud of…
I’m proud of the relationships I’ve made and the stories I’ve helped tell over the years. Over 100 brands have trusted me with their identity, and each one has been a reflection of something real, something deeply personal.
I want their stories to echo as long as people need to hear them, to touch those who feel drawn to them, to stand as the embodiment of their founder’s deeper calling and purpose.
While I love the opportunity to connect deeply with my clients—to serve their brands as if they were my own, to be a long-term partner in their growth, to nurture our relationship for years to come—I don’t hope my work is remembered for anything in particular.
Except, maybe, for the way our collaboration made them feel.
Beyond that, and their success, not much else matters to me in this realm.
The truth is, I’m here to witness the art in them—so the world can too.
Above all else, I want folks to know that your brand is already within you. You don’t have to force it, you just have to uncover it. I’m here to help you do that.
Branding should be an experience. It’s not just a logo or a color palette or even the world’s most beautiful mood board. Branding is about creating something that makes people feel something. That’s what I build.
I care deeply about the collaborations I engage in. This isn’t just design work to me. It’s an intimate, collaborative process. I take on a limited number of projects so I can pour my full creative energy into each one.
If your brand doesn’t feel like you, I want to help. Because you deserve a brand that does justice to the work you put into the world.
So tell me about the art in you—your vision, your wildest form—and let’s go there together.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I never set out to build a reputation.
I set out to build relationships.
If I had to pinpoint what’s helped grow Unbridled Form, it wouldn’t be a perfect marketing strategy or a viral moment. It would be trust. Trust built through genuine connections, creative partnerships, and a level of care that goes beyond just delivering a brand. I’m just all in on making sure my clients feel truly seen, understood, and supported every step of the way.
And they wildly deserve that because most of my clients find me at a moment of transition that’s full of just as much excitement as growing pains and doubts.
One of my clients shared something about the process from their side that I’ll always be grateful for:
“Amy takes care of her own unlike anyone else I have ever worked with. The truth is that when a multidimensional creative or entrepreneur comes to a web & brand designer and copywriter, they are going through a transitional phase full of just as much evolution and becoming as growing pains, doubts, and fears. Since the day I met Amy, she has reflected my imperfect beauty and divine talents right back to me. I felt seen & supported, and it shows in the final product.”
That level of connection? That’s why over 60% of my projects come from referrals.
Because when people feel truly cared for, they become more than clients. They become your greatest advocates. And because we tend to grow fairly close throughout the process, I find that we continue to root for one another, no matter where life leads. From spontaneous coffee dates (and maybe horseback rides??) to heartfelt audio messages, I’ll always be in my clients’ corner.
But I also love writing reviews for my clients.
As a small business myself, I know just how much a thoughtful review can mean. It’s a love language for me, taking a moment to reflect on the way they showed up in our collaboration, the dedication, the respect, the passion. It’s often so reflected in their work their own client relationships as well.
At the end of the day, the fact that Unbridled Form has grown through word-of-mouth is proof of something simple:
Successful brands are built on trust.
And despite the online hype of going viral or scaling to 6-figures in your first year, real trust isn’t about flashy marketing or quick wins. It’s honestly so much simpler. It’s about showing up, listening deeply, and creating something that truly supports the person behind the brand.
That’s something I’ll always prioritize.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Absolutely.
But first off—I don’t believe that there are non-creative people. Creativity isn’t just literal creating; it’s problem-solving, showing up in the world, and finding new ways to bring ideas into reality. It’s in the way you move through life, the way you connect with people, the way you cook, the way you organize your home, the way you make decisions, the way you shape the world around you.
Every person engages with creativity daily, whether they recognize it or not. It’s not a talent reserved for artists; it’s an approach, a perspective, a way of seeing possibilities where others see limits.
Anyway, the biggest thing others might struggle to understand about what I do is that isn’t just design. It’s storytelling. It’s psychology. It’s energy.
Branding, when done well, is an experience. One that should feel like stepping into the most aligned version of your business. It’s about resonance. It’s about the way your audience should feel when they land on your website, see your logo, or interact with your brand anywhere else in the world. It’s about creating something so intentional and deeply rooted in meaning that it feels like home. To you and to the people it’s meant for.
And that level of depth? It takes time, thought, and a ridiculous amount of creative energy.
I think what others might not fully see is that this work is just as much strategy, intuition, and deep research as it is design.
Because before I ever start creating a brand identity, I have to understand the soul of the founder and the brand they dream of building—the story, the values, the message, and the feeling we want to create. I have to dive into psychology to make sure what we’re creating is deeply aligned with the right audience. I have to consider the emotional response. How should this brand make people feel? Inspired? Nostalgic? Ready to take on the world? Comforted? I have to think about longevity. How do we create something that stands the test of time and doesn’t feel like a trend that will fade? And then, I have to balance artistry with strategy. Because a brand needs to be beautiful, yes, but it also needs to function, convert curious visitors, and tell the right story.
And all of this is before I ever open a design file.
Another thing people don’t always see is the emotional effort of being a creative.
This work is so intimate. Clients come to me at major turning points. Rebrands, expansions, business evolutions, identity shifts. And I hold space for the vulnerability, the fears, the uncertainty that comes with stepping into something bigger.
Which means I pour my heart into this work. And that’s why I take on a limited number of clients. Because I want to give each project the time, energy, and care it deserves.
The truth is, creative work is often undervalued because its impact isn’t always immediately measurable. You can’t always put a number on what it means for someone to finally feel at home in their business. You can’t quantify the feeling of stepping into a brand identity that makes you feel seen, aligned, and confident in your business. But I see the effects of it every day.
A truly aligned brand changes how a business is perceived, how it attracts its people, how the founder moves within it, and how it is remembered.
And that’s why this work matters so much to me.
