Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amy Lin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you’re open to it, can you talk to us about the best (or worst) investment you’ve made. What’s the backstory and the relevant context behind why you made the investment
The best investment you can ever make as a business owner is to invest in yourself. I value the importance of personal development and growth. Your income can only grow to the extend of your own expansion. When it comes to investing in my own personal growth and development, I never hesitated because I know I am the most important thing in my life and my business alike. I also invest in mentorship and having coaches for different aspects of my life. When I decided to become I speaker, I hired a speaking coach. When I decided to become a mindset coach, I got myself a mindset coach. Especially being a coach myself, I follow my own piece of advice when it comes to investing in one self, it is the best investment you can ever have.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In 2017, I embarked on a personal development growth journey after feeling lost and broken as a result of a breakup. I became a seminar junkie for the next few years, I was eager to know who I was and I was desperate to make changes in my life. After 2 years of going from seminars to seminars, I saw the late Bob Proctor on stage speaking about “paradigm shift” at one of the events, everything changed for me. I went from being a real estate broker to becoming Bob Proctors’ top consultants in the world within six months of that event.
My company’s name is The Opulent Academy. The word “opulent” means having an abundance of wealth full of riches and it all starts in the mind. Living an opulent life means being able to think lavishly, luxuriously with no restrictions.
“Our mission is to help individuals become the best versions of themselves through personal growth and co-creation with the universe. We empower our clients to tap into their true potential by providing them with a range of tools, strategies, and insights that enable them to live the lives they truly want and desire, while co-creating with the universe to manifest their dreams and aspirations.
Through our mentorship, we aim to inspire and support individuals on their journey of self-discovery and transformation, so that they may experience greater alignment with their higher purpose, and live a life of meaning, purpose, and abundance.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has to be organic marketing. One of the best ways for organic marketing is by speaking at conferences and events. I have been invited to speak locally in Los Angeles as well as internationally, including Dubai, Paris and Canada. Through speaking at an event, I was able to connect with my ideal clients who would often come up to speak to me after my speech and share how they resonated with my message. Another form of speaking would be done virtually. I host monthly workshops virtually which allows anyone to tune in from the comfort of their homes anywhere in the world.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are many books that have significantly impacted me as an entrepreneur. One of the top books is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, which is considered the #1 book on success of all time. When it comes to building your brand, I highly recommend Donald Miller’s book “Building a story brand” where he talks about how to use story telling to grow your business. The books I would recommend when it comes to sales are “Selling You” by Napoleon Hill and Zero Resistance Selling by Dr Maxwell Maltz. These two books talk about the importance of mindset when it comes to selling. You have to first sell yourself before you can ever sell other people on buying your products/services.
