Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amy Lamb. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Even if they didn’t realize it at the time, my parents’ meticulous approach to our family home profoundly shaped my career as an interiors photographer. With unwavering love, they made a humble home into a cherished sanctuary for me and my siblings. No request from my mother went unheeded, as my father happily devoted his carpentry skills and his spare time to serving her and constructing the furniture she desired. A breakfast nook table, a pie safe—every square inch of the home served a purpose in the space and reflected the love between my parents.
Everything was cared for in our home, and when the occasion called for it, mom and dad loved to create an unforgettable mood. I vividly remember planning a big sleepover for all of my friends around Christmastime. Seeing my excitement, mom and dad went straight to work. Dad stacked the firewood just so in preparation for the campfire, mom set the lighting to emit a warm, even glow and arranged a place setting as immaculate as any I have seen before or since, and together, they curated a playlist to set a festive mood. Every preparation ensured that my friends would be received with love.
The home I was raised in was more than 4 walls—it was a place where memories were made. My parents’ careful touch in the home sculpted my keen eye for function and aesthetics and instilled in me a deep appreciation for the home’s power to nourish the spirit.
