We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amy Jack. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amy below.
Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
It was always a dream of mine to pursue music, although it didn’t feel like a feasible goal until I met Merle Haggard. He took me under his wing and agreed to produce my debut album and encouraged me to put my music out into the world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My co-writers Duane Hitchings & Don Goodman were some of the first people I met when I knew I wanted to release music. They have been there every step of the way with me through the creative process, and I truly couldn’t have done it without them. They are my biggest cheerleaders and know exactly how to take my songs to the next level. My priority has always been to be a creator and share my story with people. I think one of the most important things anyone has ever told me is that the best you can do is spread your truth. I feel like I’ve done that and love that others can resonate with it.
I’m so proud of my latest release, “Everybody Just Needs A Little Juice.” It’s a refreshing message, and it only felt right to release it in the summertime. It was inspired by a serendipitous interaction I had with a stranger this past year that put a smile on my face, and I wanted to spread the message in hopes it would make someone else feel the same way.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I love the writing process, and seeing an idea come to fruition. It’s such a rewarding feeling to publish a song after months of hard work and love poured into it. It feels like a blessing that I’m able to do this.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My father once shared an inspirational moment with me, saying that race horses and athletes and all people who love something do it for the love of the game. This really resonated with me, and ever since, my mindset for my music has shifted. I feel moved to write something and I do it purely for the love of the game.
