We were lucky to catch up with Amy Hanks recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amy , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I am a seasoned representative of Communications and Public Relations. Since my teenage years, I have harnessed my vision and entrepreneurial ambition to elevate my company to an international level through skillful yet practical tactics. I oversee all aspects of press kit development, publicity, marketing and advertising campaigns, press conferences, event planning, print and broadcast placement, and internet exposure. With a combination of my experiences and a deeply rooted passion for my career, I have built a reputation for “Making Things Happen.” My mission has always been to use my creativity to help others elevate their brands to the next level on a global scale. As a businesswoman, I have gained respect in the Entertainment, Education, Nonprofits, Politics, and Cannabis industries by prioritizing professionalism and integrity as the main elements of my success.
Amy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am truly committed to advocating for minorities and the marginalized, dedicating my life to this important cause. My early involvement in community support laid a strong foundation for my impactful work with organizations like Bridging Life’s Gaps and Resources, Street Groomers, and Breaking the Chains of Hip Hop. Since September 2024, I have focused on the unhoused community in downtown Atlanta, particularly those near the oldest Catholic church, highlighting my commitment to addressing homelessness directly. My personal experience with homelessness adds a profound layer of empathy and understanding to my efforts, allowing me to connect with those I aim to help on a deeper level. Through my work, I have not only helped individuals find stability and support but have also brought attention to the systemic issues surrounding homelessness.
“If every person would take on one homeless person as their personal project, guide them, and help them without conditions, we could eradicate homelessness in the United States expeditiously.” – I
A few of the elite clients I have worked with include Bridging Life’s Gaps and Resources, Street Groomers, Bookstore Gallery Edgewood, Coalition DJs, Nelly, Harry O, Rocsi Diaz, New Orleans City Council, The Weed Bar, 50 Boys Ent., Baghead Distribution, CNN, Breaking the Chains of Hip Hop, The Hype Magazine, Mafia Magazine, Able Mable Thomas, Too Short, Green Holdings Group, Women in Music & Technology, Revanch Liquor, Dogman (film), Boosie Juice, Plant Life CBD, The Rollup Show, I Love LA Girls (Apparel), DJ Roots Queen, The Official Green Queen, DJ Pretty Hippie, Funky OG, Drumma Boy Fresh, Snoop Dogg, DJ Speedy, Slice 9, W.I.M.A.T, Andre Rison, African Oscars, Chicago Music Awards, Ying Yang Twins, Ghetto Mafia, and many more.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Life can throw unimaginable challenges our way, and my journey is a testament to that. It all started in 2014 with a brown recluse spider bite that led to a staph infection and a year of antibiotics and almost death experience. Fast forward three years, and I found myself in emergency surgery for a cancer tumor the size of a soccer ball.
After overcoming cancer, I woke up one day feeling utterly defeated, as if I had been in a car wreck. What followed was a frustrating four-year battle of misdiagnoses. In 2021, I finally discovered that four bones in my neck had collapsed, pressing on my spinal cord. After surgery, I faced yet another diagnosis: skin cancer.
Through all of this, I learned the harsh realities of what many sick people endure—abuse, neglect, and the struggle for understanding. But I refused to let my circumstances define me. By embracing holistic health changes, I began my path to recovery.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth through grassroots marketing has always been my approach, as I have never had to actively market my company or maintain a website. I have focused on building a solid reputation, and my work speaks for itself. This organic growth has allowed me to connect with clients and foster relationships based on trust and quality, ensuring that my business thrives through the power of personal recommendations.
