We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amy Contreras a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Amy , appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
If I could go back in time, I’d tell my younger self one thing to trust myself and not worry what others thought of me. That I just needed to not be afraid of my gifts.
For 30 years, my mom, Nancy, was a professional psychic, dedicating her life to helping people find love, clarity, and hope. She was the real deal—a rebel with a wild heart, someone who felt her way through life, never afraid to color outside the lines. She zoomed around town in her little red car without a care and believed deeply in the power of connection.
And her greatest wish was she hoped I would follow in her footsteps.
She saw my path long before I was ready to admit it. But I denied it. Time and time again.
I was afraid. Afraid of what people would think, afraid of standing out, afraid of being labeled weird or crazy Amy because that is what I was called when I scared my peers. . Those words stung more than I wanted to admit. They hurt my ego, my feelings, and my sense of belonging. So, I buried my gift, shut my spiritual closet, pushing it away and convincing myself that blending in was better than embracing who I truly was.
I ran in the opposite direction completely throwing myself into the corporate world selling adverting for big companies. overanalyzing everything.
It was all about structure, logic, and playing by the rules. I needed boundaries, control, and a sense of independence. But deep down, no matter how much I tried to convince myself that I was on the “right” path, something always felt missing or it was just so hard on a day to day..
And then, one day, I had enough.
I was in my 30s, stuck in a toxic corporate job that drained the life out of me. I was exhausted, uninspired, and sick of pretending I was happy. I couldn’t fake it anymore. Spirit whispered to me, “It’s almost time.” But I wasn’t ready. I was terrified—afraid of walking away from financial stability, afraid of stepping into the unknown. Logically I know our bodies are programed to be frustrated in the unknown because we don’t have the assurance of the answers but the thing is there was absolutely zero stability in my corporate career.
Waking up every day dreading what that day would look like, feeling trapped in a cycle that didn’t nourish me. I was in fight or flight.. That was fear disguised as comfort. I was miserable, playing it safe in a life that wasn’t meant for me.
So, I walked away.
The day I finally said yes to my calling was the greatest day of my life. It wasn’t just a career shift—it was freedom.
And I wasn’t alone. My mom, my mentor, the woman who had always known this was my path, was there. And I have my partner and now my husband who never once doubted me, who fully supported my dream even when I was still scared to believe in it myself. With their love and unwavering belief in me, I stepped into my gift, fully committed not just as something I dabbled in, but as my true life’s work.
Then, in 2016, something shifted even more. I wish I would have done this sooner, I looked at my mom and said, “Let’s work together.” It was the happiest day of her life and my life to work side by side with each of our different gifts complimenting each other.
For years, she had waited for me to stop running, to step into what she always knew was mine. We began doing group readings together, blending our gifts, our energy, and our love for Spirit. It was an honor to stand beside her, to learn from her, to share that sacred space. It was effortless. It was home.
Mommas always know.
Now, as a psychic medium and metaphysical counselor, I understand why my journey took the time it did. Even though I wish I had started sooner to have freedom and the love I have for my clients and work, I also know that every step led me here—to a place of certainty, trust, boundaries and deep connection.
My mom always knew, and even though she’s on the other side now, I feel her in every session, every reading, every moment of connection. She’s still guiding me, still placing her gentle hand on my arm, but now, instead of rolling my eyes, I listen. I trust. And I finally understand.

Amy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Amy, a psychic medium and spiritual counselor. I help individuals feel strong, confident, and beautiful, regardless of their age or beliefs. My path into this field came from my own personal challenges that led to significant change.
**Personal Journey**
For 33 years, I struggled to connect with my body, mind, and spirit. I often felt bloated and fatigued after meals. I dealt with eczema, migraines, and a sensitive scalp that made even brushing my hair painful. Socializing, like having drinks with friends, was difficult; even a small sip could cause stomach pain for weeks. I often doubted my mental health when doctors could not find out what was wrong.
A turning point came when a doctor told me that my die and lifestylet was harming me. Tests showed that my cells were attacking themselves. Faced with the risk of serious illness, including cancer, I decided to take charge of my health. I aimed to achieve optimal wellness by the age of 40, which led me to explore various methods that could improve my well-being.
During this journey, I learned to trust my intuition, which helped me grow. I even competed in weightlifting in 2011. My experiences have been featured in publications like Nyweekly, Wanderlust, and Yoganonymous. I was also on the cover of FITBODY Magazine in January 2016.
**Services Offered**
I offer a variety of services designed to help individuals unlock their potential, including:
– **Spiritual Blueprint Mentorship Program:** A 12-week program that helps participants explore key concepts like synchronicity and emotional awareness.
– **Psychic Intuitive Readings:** I analyze energy frequencies to provide clear answers to a wide range of questions about life.
– **Spiritual Counseling:** In bi-weekly sessions, I help clients address past challenges, break habits of self-sabotage, and set healthier boundaries.
– **14-Day Clean Eating Guide:** This program removes toxins from the diet and provides simple, nutritious recipes that support health.
My practice focuses on empowering clients to connect with their own intuition. As a clairvoyant medium and counselor, I prioritize clarity, healing, and deep connection. I help clients by delivering messages from loved ones, exploring important lessons, and guiding them through emotional and spiritual challenges. Each session provides a holistic experience that goes beyond traditional psychic readings.
I avoid vague predictions and sensational tactics. My approach is direct and practical. Each session is an opportunity for self-discovery, offering guidance on relationships, career, personal growth, and emotional health. I help clients understand how to interpret messages from the spiritual realm and apply those insights to everyday life.
Whether through a phone session, an in-home reading, or a mediumship dinner gathering, I create a supportive space for transformation. These events allow participants to connect with those who have passed, reinforcing the ongoing nature of love. My mediumship includes specific details and memories that demonstrate that love does not end with death. Clients leave not only with answers but with a sense of peace, purpose, and reassurance that they are guided.
In addition to mediumship, I integrate spiritual counseling, energy healing, and guidance. I help clients identify emotional patterns and blocks that may hold them back. My goal is to help clients trust their intuition, overcome limiting beliefs, and move forward with confidence.
Many of my clients are empaths and sensitive individuals who often feel overwhelmed by their emotions. I guide them in understanding their gifts, setting boundaries, and developing the self-trust needed to navigate life with clarity and strength.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media simply by showing up as my true self, aligned with my Human Design and sharing my experiences through love. I never focused on chasing trends or trying to be what I thought people wanted. I just spoke from the heart, sharing insights, messages, and real moments that resonated with those meant to find me. Authenticity attracts the right people. My advice for anyone starting out? Be real. Be consistent. Be YOU. Share from a place of love, trust your voice, and the right audience will naturally be drawn to your energy.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been the workshops I led in Boise for years. Those gatherings built trust, created deep connections, and naturally led people to my private sessions. A big part of my growth also comes from the love and trust people had for my mom. She helped so many, and those who knew her felt safe coming to me, knowing I carry on her legacy. It’s all happened through word of mouth, real connections, and showing up with love.
