We recently connected with Amy Castro and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To achieve success is a matter of personal interpretation. For me, it signifies giving priority to God in all aspects of my life. I can honestly affirm that if I hadn’t placed Jesus at the center of my business, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I talk to God about my plans and desires, and this has helped me to be successful.
I believe that every job deserves my best effort, regardless of its size. Whether it’s a small or large task, I strive to achieve success in everything I undertake. Even if it’s just serving coffee, I aim to make the best coffee I’ve ever made and serve it with gratitude. I also believe in being a team player, helping those who are struggling in areas I excel in. If we both encounter difficulties, let’s work together to achieve greatness.
What I love about my business is that I have met incredible people who are warm-hearted and have helped me grow. I am forever grateful and will be there when they need me. I don’t believe in stepping on people. But I have also learned to stay away from negativity and not tell anyone about my next steps. Some people are waiting to knock you down.
I will continue to run my business at Jesus’s feet and keep growing while helping those around me grow as well.
Amy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a dedicated individual who always strives to reach higher goals. My parents’ artistic abilities inspired me to pursue a career path in a creative field. Despite my mother being a hairstylist, I never thought of following in her footsteps. However, I always yearned for something more than just a regular 9-to-5 desk job. I wanted to travel, meet new people and use my creativity to make people feel good. I was fortunate enough to land my first job working on Good Morning America, and since then, I have never looked back.
What sets me apart is my professionalism, especially when dealing with high-end clients. I always strive to make my clients feel good about themselves and achieve their desired looks. I want to be known for my kindness and my ability to deliver quality work.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective ways to expand your clientele is by retaining your existing customers. Word of mouth is a powerful tool that can work in your favor if you can keep your clients satisfied and happy with your services. When your clients are happy with you, they are more likely to refer you to their peers, colleagues, and acquaintances, which can help you attract new customers and increase your business opportunities.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I vividly remember taking on my first client with excitement and eagerness to fulfill the trust placed in me. However, the opposite happened – my client disliked everything about my work and didn’t get the job. Devastated, I went home and cried, even considering giving up my career. It was my supportive husband who encouraged me to use this experience as an opportunity to improve myself. He advised me to take note of everything my client disliked and practice tirelessly. From that point on, I committed to constantly learning from my mistakes and striving to do my best.
