We recently connected with Amy Bizal and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
After going through my first pregnancy and dealing with some trauma from birth, I knew that I wanted to educated and prepare myself more for the second pregnancy so I began weekly prenatal yoga classes that I drove 30 minutes away to. It was in this class that I experienced a transformation, It was that class that prepared me for the birth and recovery that I was hoping for, and it’s that class that made me realize that I wanted to pay this forward and become a prenatal yoga teacher.

Amy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello, I’m Amy Bizal. I am a busy mom to 3 and a wife to one of the most supportive men I know. My life can be a little hectic sometimes but I have found that embracing the chaos makes things go a lot smoother.
When I became a mom I struggled with feeling like I had lost myself. When in reality I hadn’t, I was still the same old me but I had a lot more to worry about. I found that I just needed to find what filled up my heart and soul and make me feel like me again. I turned to things like the asana practice of yoga and focused on my inner self with meditation and pranayama. It wasn’t long before I not only felt like myself again but I was a new and even improved self. When I focused on things that made me feel whole and healthy I was a happier wife, more patient mom, and had tools that allowed me to deal with the challenges of everyday life.
I became pregnant again and immediately knew I wanted to incorporate prenatal yoga into my life. I went once a week for 9 months. Because I did, my pregnancy was more manageable both mentally and physically and my delivery was more swift and “easy” if you could ever call it that. If I hadn’t participated in prenatal yoga, I firmly believe my pregnancies would have been a lot different.
When I noticed this lifestyle starting to flow over into my family and my friends and benefit them, I knew I needed to continue to help others and made the choice to become a yoga instructor. I saw the benefit my kids were experiencing in the ability to regulate their emotions and implement breathing techniques when they got worked up. I knew if I brought these same techniques into a class that incorporated parents and children, others would be able to benefit and implement them into everyday life as well.
I am a 200-hour certified yoga instructor and am a Green Lotus certified kid yoga instructor.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I finally decided to become a yoga instructor and found the school I wanted to teach with, I found out I was pregnant with my third baby. this could have stopped me but since I wanted to teach yoga to those who were pregnant, I figured this was a perfect opportunity to learn from experience so I could teach from experience. I went through my training, had my little yoga baby, and then ended up graduating. Shortly after that I began teaching in a studio and then the pandemic happened. I had a choice to make, try to continue with my studio that would possibly close (spoiler alert, It did) or I could take my business into my own hands and build something from scratch for myself. This was one of the scariest decisions as a new and unexperienced yoga instructor but by far the best decision I could have made.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
With the pandemic happening and my classes going strictly to virtual classes, I turned to my social media platforms to market myself. I started with a small following, around 2,000 followers, and my page was kind of a hodgepodge of things that I liked and was passionate about. I decided it was time for me to rebrand, and niche down and share only what I wanted to teach and that was mostly prenatal yoga. I purchased all the books to educate myself and shared all the things I was learning. I also got very creative with what I was sharing and how I was wording that. People began to love what I was sharing and within a few months my page began to take off. I continued to be consistent, even on the weeks that I didn’t feel creative or when I felt a drop in my growth or attendance in my class. Because of that people started to trust me and before long I was reaching people all over the United States and having them in class. I ended up closing down the year with over 10,000 followers on IG and went from 200 followers on TikTok to 100,00 followers!
