Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy and Marissa of Kindred Souls.
Appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Kindred Souls was created a little over a year ago. When we first started, we truly had no idea what we were doing. We did endless amounts of research on how to source crystals and how to get going. It was quite the challenge. We came across some amazing people along the way that helped point us in the right direction. We didn’t receive any loans or grants to start this business, even though we are a small women owned business. Marissa and I put our little bit of savings together and took a risk that changed our lives forever. We had no idea how Kindred Souls would do but we did know that it was something we felt passionate about and had to take the risk. In the end it was definitely worth investing in ourselves and our passion.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Kindred Souls is the name of our traveling crystal store. We offer high quality, ethically sourced crystals, bracelets, and other metaphysical healing supplies. My friend Marissa and I loved going to crystal shops. It became a passion for us. We knew that crystals and stones helped us in our day to day lives and we wanted to figure out a way to spread knowledge and availability of these magical stones. Our goal was to open a store, however that wasn’t in the cards for us starting out. We came up with the idea to make our display portable. We signed up for as many craft fairs and festivals as possible. We knew that if we followed our calling the people we were meant to meet on the journey would come, and they did! At our first event we had a line out the tent! We have been traveling doing events for over a year now. We love teaching people about different crystals and how they can help us in our lives. We also offer classes to teach people how to work with crystals to get the most out of them.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We grow our clientele by meeting people at the events we go to. By attending different events we are able to meet some amazing people on a similar life journey as us. We call our following our soul family. We have some clients that met us at our first event and still follow us to all our events. These clients have become friends and we feel so blessed to know we are helping them as much as they are helping us.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of our goals when first starting Kindred Souls was to open a store front. We wanted to have a space where people could come to learn about our crystals. We did try to get a store front, however without a loan or grant we were not able to afford the overhead costs of starting a new business. This was discouraging because we weren’t really sure what direction to go next. That is when we decided to make our shop portable and sign up for as many fairs and events that we could. We realized that this worked really well for us and enjoyed meeting all the people that come to the events. A store is still a goal for us in the future, however we refuse to let that hold us back on this journey.
