We were lucky to catch up with Amirah King recently and have shared our conversation below.

Amirah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?

I’ve had lots of experiences with kindness, so it’s tough to choose just one, but anytime someone takes the time to share their knowledge or wisdom with me, I really appreciate that because it helps accelerate my learning process, For example, I had a coworker whom now I consider friend/family because he shared his business opportunities with me and expanded my skill set and service options, just by allowing me to assist him as a 2nd shooter with his wedding videography services.

Not only did he share insight verbally, but he put me in a position to learn by doing & gaining my own understanding of what that area of storytelling & film making entails. Along with sharing physical tools and resources that I didn’t already have…he gave me a drone that has greatly assisted in increasing my overall quality and service value to offer to clients. So I am forever thankful and grateful for Ahmad’s Vision, LLC.

Amirah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Amirah King, also known as MAJIIC and I am an artist at the core. I’ve progressively grown into a title or label that almost fits all of what I (can) do, and that is Creative Producer. I see myself as someone that learns the people around me, uses what they share ( life experiences/story, skills, talents, passions, struggles, etc ) , and make some form of art with it ( photo, film, apparrel ) . Being the solution and detail oriented person I am, I take whatever is given; apply shape, order, structure, my creativity and elevate it, to be shared with the world or be personal keepsake for the individual(s).

I work with other artists (musicians, illustrators, storytellers, etc) , athletes & companies to help them communicate & express their message(s), visions and goals to the public in an authentic way. I offer photo, video & management services that include professional headshots, documentary/behind the scenes footage, music videos, creative image consultation, podcast production, and much more.

I take pride knowing that everyone I work with gets a final result that is custom made just for them, a 1 of 1. All of my clients also will learn about themselves and gain new insights and life perspectives from working with me and going through the MAJIICSHOTS Visuals process.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Being a creative / artist allows for all of the freedom you can handle. To me , there is no box unless you create one or you force yourself to attempt to fit into one or a few that have been made prior to you even existing.

I get to connect with people from all walks of life, explore all the different types/subgenres of artistic expression (visual, audio, etc ) and let what I’m drawn to lead me to new thoughts, experiences, that I can in turn share with others via any given media.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.

I support and invest in my clients as if their brand/business were my own. Whether it be via verbal support and sharing helpful resources or making product purchases from their company, to sharing business info on social media, etc. I do my best to show my love and appreciation to those I collaborate and work with. We are all in this together and when people know and feel that, they will continue to do business with you, send referrals, & go above and beyond for you.
