We were lucky to catch up with Amira Otiti recently and have shared our conversation below.

Amira, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

Elated! Being an entrepreneur was the best decision I’ve made for my life. Having 3 children, being a wife, operating a business, dealing with your everyday struggles; flexibility and freedom is all I yearned for. But let’s be honest money is needed as well. So throughout my career I’ve picked up part time jobs to supplement what I wasn’t making in my business. Almost all cosmetologist have done it. But there was a turning point in my business that I realized I can no longer think about working a regular job.

A few years ago I took a part time job to make extra money, after a few months of showing up, being on time, doing my job and then some. When I received my check I was flabbergasted, I realized I actually wasn’t making any extra money. I thought to myself, what if I used all those work hours I gave to the regular job on or in my business? What if I stayed as disciplined for my regular job on my business? So I quit! And I made a promise to myself to only focus on my business. In doing so I was able to scale and gain more awareness.

I know I wouldn’t enjoy life working a regular job because I wouldn’t be able to have the freedom, flexibility and financial control.

Amira, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Amira Otiti, I’m from Brooklyn, NY I’ve been doing hair for about 14 years. My family and I relocated to Atl in 2016. My salon is located in Sandy Springs, GA Amira’s Touch is a full-service hair salon, specializing in silk press and weave installations. I’m known for doing the fastest and most efficient sewins. I have the Best bundle deals and great custom wigs. We have products such as shampoos, conditioners, edge control and a growth oil. I take pride in providing my clients with outstanding customer service, understanding that no client is alike and giving them what they need. Being consistent and reliable is what sets me apart from others. My salon is intimate, so for those clients who are looking to be in a one on one setting, this place is for you. I focus on maintaining healthy and helping women be comfortable with wearing their natural hair.
