We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amira Noor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amira below.
Amira, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Ever since I was a little girl! I never really enjoyed academic subjects in school or could see myself pursuing anything else other than an artistic path. I began to take it more seriously when it was time to apply to colleges and the nerves kicked in as I watched my friends figure out their career paths and apply to non-creative/artistic schools. Although college was never on my mind, I knew that if I was going to have to go to get a degree, it would have to be from a music or drama school.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I work as an international model, singer, actor and influencer. I got into the modelling and acting industry in 2018, after I moved to Mumbai, India for my gap year. While I was in Mumbai, I signed with a talent agency and worked for various clothing, jewellery and cosmetic brands. I got into the acting industry through auditions for tv commercials and a role in a Bollywood Netflix film. During my gap year, I also started collaborating with brands on Instagram, providing content for their products. After my gap year, I attended Berklee College of Music where I studied performance, songwriting and music business.
In my last semester, I started releasing original music and establishing myself as a recording artist.
I think I am most proud of the modelling work I do for brands and when I am able to satisfy the client by marketing their products in the best way that I can. I am also proud when I release a song and my audience are able to relate to it or enjoy and feel good while listening.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think when it comes to my modelling and acting work, the most rewarding aspect for me is when I finish a shoot and am able to have the director, photographer or brand owner be satisfied with my work.
When it comes to music, whenever I finish a song and get good feedback from it and have my lyrics resonate with an audience or make them feel good, I feel rewarded.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started to build my audience on social media by being consistent. At first, I was really shy to post on my social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and Tik Tok, however, after a point I just got used to it and began sharing my journey with my audience and not caring about peoples judgement . I think the best way to build a social media presence is to be consistent. The more you engage with your followers and post content, the more you will start to grow and build an audience.
