Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amir “Ra” Carver. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Amir “Ra”, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?

My first sale as a producer was an exclusive custom for Kentucky Artist, Mtvbilliam. The beat was then used on his 2022 project “The Phantom Menace” on the song “Lil Light of Mine”.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I began producing as a hobby during COVID in 2020 and wouldn’t take it seriously until 2022 when I began uploading and selling my beats. I primarily make plugnb/plugg and Detroit beats but I have explored other genres and subgenres. I do custom exclusive beats for artists and provide as many revisions as needed to help capture the exact sound or feeling the artist wants for the track. I work with a variety of budgets and my main goal as a producer is just to produce amazing tracks with artists.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Seeing people independently discover and bop their heads to a track I’ve produced, the feeling of seeing people you haven’t even spoken to hear your music and genuinely enjoy it is an unbeatable feeling.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

Genuine constructive feedback, I’m thankful to have friends who are honest with me and will tell me if something is trash and where to improve, but too many aspiring creatives don’t have that. This leads to support that is untrue and won’t tell you when something you made is bad and to expand on that too much of the time the feedback is very unconstructive leaving the creative confused on where to improve if the only feedback they get is “that’s trash”, feedback like that won’t help anybody because how can someone improve without guidance on where to improve
