Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amir Hightower . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amir, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
One minute that changed my early career in coaching was a circumstance that happened at the college I graduated from. In 2018, I was granted my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration focus in Sports Management after I competed in Basketball /Track&Field for the four years I was in college. After, I graduated with my Bachelors I was offered an Assistant Coach position to work on getting my Masters at the college I’m an Alumni of. However, coached for about 6 months and then the pandemic happened got sent home worked at Home Depot warehouse and knew I wanted to do more with my life . So, I started my Clothing Line (Metro Clothing) and start coaching travel ball for one of the top independent programs Metro Elite Basketball club. With all that going on I became a Teacher and High School Varsity Head Basketball Coach which was really Gods Plan. Everything always happens for a reason but once you keep that tunnel vision life will play out in your favor. From my story I learned It ain’t about where you start from ,it’s about what you going to make out of different situations.
Amir, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Amir Hightower born & raised in Griffin,Georgia. I’ started my Clothing Brand during the pandemic thinking of a plan to give others hope that it’s success in starting your own business. Everyone doesn’t have to go to college to be successful that there is other ways. However, with Metro Clothing it ties in with the basketball program I coach for which is Metro Elite Basketball. That is where I can be that leader that most young teens in the area I’m from need to see someone like me that made it in different ways and that will be motivation for them. Also, starting my clothing line open up many different opportunities for me now I have take pictures also (Metro Visuals) and sports recruiting business (SouthMetroRecruiting) helping kids get to college through sports. My goal is to just add value through one kid at a time. I provide different T-Shirt designs , athletic sweat suits and jogging suits. The most think I’m proud of is my growth through my business it pushed me in many ways outside of it. In my words “Everybody ain’t gone support you like you think they should, just be grateful for the ones that do”.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Great quality of work and just being consistent at everything I do or provide.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Know your worth and value at everything you do. Sometimes people don’t understand but will use you for all your great qualities until your time is up.
