We recently connected with Amie Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I was working in corporate American and I was to the point where I felt like there has to be something more prosperous and less stressful in life than doing this same routine. My last day at work I had an intense exchange with management so I called my husband and he said quit. I immediately sent an a letter of resignation. My husband DJ‘s so when weekend he was out of town for a wedding and he sing a concept that he said that will be able to do and work together. It was a photo booth!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I got into the photo booth business because I no longer wanted to be on a 9-5. There’s always an event happening. My Husband and I teamed up. He’s the DJ and I run the photo booth. Businesses was great up until the pandemic. Being the creative that I am I decided to start customizing fedoras. Came up with AMill Collections which is an online boutique for accessories. Then I decided to venture a little more into my creative side and began painting. During the pandemic I learned that it’s imperative to have several streams of income.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped my reputation is being innovative, personable and having great customer service. For instance we have The Twilight Tunnel in which the celebrities love because it’s unique. Then we have The Cyclone booth. It’s a top spin 360 booth. We chose this booth because it’s accessible for all ages, all sizes and people with disabilities. Good Customer service is always a plus. You’ll receive referrals and repeat customers.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would have to say first that my Husband is great when it comes to marketing. Creating flyers and commercials for Photo Booths To Go then paid ads. As I stated before being personable has opened doors with different event planners and venues. If you have a great product people will be interested.
