We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amie Bishop. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amie below.
Hi Amie, thanks for joining us today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
The greatest boss I ever had was Elisa Flores. She was the HR Manager of an organization I previously worked for and was the definition of “Practice what you Preach.” She led with such passion and empowered you to be the best no matter the task at hand.
I remember like it was yesterday. It was the end of the month and we had to get the remaining units out in time for shipping. The paint booth was slammed but doing their best. Elisa got the HR team together, we all put on our PPE and headed to the production floor. Teamwork makes the Dreamwork right? I had never touched a drill in my life but I was drilling on fan tops like I was a pro. The entire HR Team jumped right in to help in anyway we could.
That day I was so proud. I admired Elisa for her tenacity. She led with such grace and confidence while instilling that same confidence in her team.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I have always been an advocate for growth and overcoming obstacles to reach your true potential. I had created flyers for a previous employer and really enjoyed the creative process. Once COVID hit and I lost my job; I decided to tap back into my creative side and help brand businesses by creating marketing items and content for their social media. What sets me apart from others is my customer service. I don’t always get it right but am very receptive to constructive criticism and being held accountable. I want potential clients to know that I am committed to bringing their dreams to reality and want them to be a part of the entire process…start to finish.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have decided to go back into the workforce. At first, I was hard on myself and felt as though I was giving up on my business, but I prayed about it and felt like it was the right move. With the rising cost of living; getting back into the workforce, while continuing to do my business, was best for my family and our future.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was saying “Yes” to everything. I had to learn that it was ok to say “No” because ultimately if I became overwhelmed, I was no good to myself or anyone else. As much as we want to be superheroes, we have to learn how to stabilize our workload without compromising the quality of our work or negatively effecting us in other ways.
