We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amelie Trimpl. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amelie below.
Hi Amelie , thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
When I moved to NYC as a photographer, I expanded into brand direction and eventually founded BUNT, my creative agency focused on visual identity, storytelling, and inclusive design.
Early on, I took on part-time work while building my portfolio and finding aligned clients. A major turning point was launching BUNT with a visual performance centered on meaningful partnerships, this helped define my niche and attract brands that shared my values.
From there, I began offering structured creative packages and consistent client work followed. Today, I run BUNT full-time, working with brands across fashion, wellness, and editorial spaces.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Amelie Trimpl, a Creative Director and Photographer, and the founder of BUNT, a New York City–based creative agency focused on visual identity, brand storytelling, and elevated, minimalist design rooted in emotional depth and representation.
I started my creative journey as a photographer, drawn to the quiet power of visual storytelling. Over time, I developed a signature style: clean, intentional, human-centered imagery with a distinct editorial flair. But I quickly realized photography alone wasn’t enough, brands needed strategy, cohesion, and narrative. That’s what led me to creative direction and eventually founding BUNT.
Today, I lead full-scope creative projects for fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and wellness brands. My services include creative direction and photography. I work with clients who are ready to level up their image, brands who want to tell stories that resonate, represent, and stick.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge art and strategy. I don’t just make things look beautiful, I make them feel intentional. Whether I’m shooting a product line, designing a visual brand system, or directing a campaign, I approach everything with a strong narrative focus and a minimalist aesthetic that highlights the heart of the brand. BUNT is built around that idea: that creativity is most powerful when it’s both bold and emotionally honest.
One of my proudest moments was launching BUNT with a multidisciplinary visual performance centered on identity and partnership. It wasn’t just a debut, it was a manifesto. Since then, I’ve built a business that consistently attracts values-driven clients and meaningful collaborations, all while staying true to my creative vision.
For anyone discovering my work for the first time, here’s what I want you to know: I help brands tell their stories in a way that feels beautiful, intentional, and unforgettable. I care deeply about representation, emotional connection, and working with clients who are as passionate about creative integrity as I am.
If you want to create something that’s more than just content, if you want visual work that carries meaning, let’s talk.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is the ability to turn emotion into something tangible, something that resonates with people, makes them feel seen, or tells a story they didn’t have the words for.
Whether I’m directing a campaign or capturing a portrait, I’m creating visual narratives that reflect identity, connection, and intention. That kind of creative translation, transforming ideas, moods, and values into striking visuals, is incredibly fulfilling.
It’s also rewarding to work with brands and individuals who trust me to shape how they’re perceived in the world. Helping someone step fully into their voice or aesthetic, and watching their confidence grow through that process, is a gift I never take for granted.
At the end of the day, it’s about impact. I create to move people, and when that happens, it’s magic.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In an industry that often expects you to follow a formula or play it safe, I did the opposite. I created my own lane. I turned down work that didn’t align with my values, even when money was tight. I invested in self-produced projects—like launching BUNT with a visual performance centered on queer identity, not because someone paid me to, but because I knew it needed to exist.
And that’s what changed everything. That performance got noticed. It positioned me not just as another creative, but as a voice. Suddenly, the right clients started reaching out. I wasn’t chasing, I was attracting.
