We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amelia Salmon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amelia below.
Hi Amelia , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally during the 2020 lockdown. At the time, I was in the middle of my university degree, but when everything shut down, I found myself at home with more stillness and time than I was used to. That pause became a catalyst. I started painting, experimenting with beads, and making hand-painted wooden earrings. It felt natural, almost like I was reconnecting with a part of myself I hadn’t fully honored before.
What started as a way to pass the time quickly turned into something deeper. I opened an Etsy shop that summer and began selling my pieces, and seeing other people connect with my creations lit a fire in me. That was the moment I realised this wasn’t just a hobby, it was my path. Lockdown could have been a moment of restriction, but for me, it became the spark that opened the door to building CosmiQueen and stepping into my identity as an artist.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Amelia, the artist and founder of CosmiQueen—an ethereal brand born from a love of creativity, beauty, and heritage. I create hand-painted wearable art, beaded statement pieces, and visual works that blend self expression and culture with style.
Each piece is infused with intention, inspired by nature, celestial energy, and cultural roots, making them more than accessories, they’re expressions of individuality and inner power. What sets Cosmiqueen apart is the fusion of art and meaning: everything I create is designed to inspire confidence, self-expression, and connection.
I’m most proud that my work has touched people in ways that make them feel seen, celebrated, and empowered. At its core, Cosmiqueen is about reminding people of their own cosmic magic and giving them art that feels as unique and radiant as they are.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes—my mission with CosmiQueen is to encourage boldness, confidence, and self-expression through art. I create statement pieces because I want the people who wear or experience my work to feel powerful, unique, and unapologetically themselves.
Color is central to my process. I use a lot of vibrant colors because they make me happy, and I believe they carry energy that spreads joy. For me, art isn’t just about beauty, it’s about emotion, intention, and creating something that uplifts. My goal is to inspire others to embrace their individuality, to stand out rather than blend in, and to connect with their own inner light.
At its heart, CosmiQueen is more than a brand, it’s a reminder that confidence is magnetic, joy is powerful, and self-expression is cosmic.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was perfectionism. As an artist, I used to postpone sharing my work or showing the behind-the-scenes process because I felt it wasn’t “perfect” enough. I would focus on the messiness, the unfinished edges, or the parts that didn’t feel polished, and in doing so, I often hid the very things that made my art authentic.
Over time, I realized that the “messy” parts are just as valuable as the finished piece. They show the effort, the craftsmanship, and the journey that goes into creating something meaningful. People don’t just connect with the final product, they connect with the story, the process, and the humanity behind it.
Unlearning perfectionism has given me more confidence to share my art openly, to let people see the evolution of a piece, and to celebrate progress rather than chasing impossible standards. I want to encourage others ,especially fellow creatives to show their process too, because that’s often what inspires people most. The beauty isn’t only in the polished outcome, but in the journey of creating it.
