We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ameera May. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ameera below.
Alright, Ameera thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The Near-death institute is driven by spiritual purpose. Our mission is to amplify the voices of those who are vessels for the divine and in service to others. We strive to serve humanity by publishing spiritually transformative literature that amplifies and empowers humanity, as well as contributes to the spiritual evolution of humanity.
This is especially important to me because the mission of NDI is an extension of my personal mission and purpose. As a publisher, I take on projects and support authors who have the intention of helping others and contributing positively to humanity.

Ameera, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey with writing and publishing spiritually transformative literature started over a decade ago when my grandfather died. I went through a “dark night of the soul” and had a major awakening. I had many questions about death, and the afterlife that my fear-based religious upbringing did not satisfy. I came across a near-death experience book that gave me a new perspective and I became obsessed with learning more about NDEs and parallel topics. I started ghostwriting for people who had NDEs and continued to do that on a freelance basis until I had a spiritual calling to be public about writing and sharing spiritually transformative topics that help people release fear based ideas and limiting beliefs. In 2023, I put together my first co-author book that featured multiple authors who each had an NDE. And since then, I have published three more spiritually transformative co-author books. Since 2023, I have also helped 12 new spiritual authors publish their books on spiritually transformative topics.
At NDI, we provide full service book publishing services for spiritual authors.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had many limiting beliefs and imposter syndrome when I first started talking about and publishing about NDEs publicly. I felt like I was not “qualified” to do so because I had not had an NDE. I was also learning, growing and expanding a lot with each project I took on and with each book I was involved in. I had to unlearn the belief that you need to be a certain way for the divine to work through you. That is not the case. If you are pure in your intentions, you can make a difference in many lives, no matter if you had an NDE or not. I also had to learn the hard way that not all spiritual people were “good” people. I had been taken advantage of by someone who pretended to have an NDE. We partnered up with the intention of growing the business and they tried to scam me. So I had to unlearn the belief that all spiritual people are aligned with the divine and interested in service to others for purposes of spiritual missions and spiritual growth.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I have a marketing and lead generation background. But I very quickly understood that many of the traditional strategies I had learned was not relevant to the people aligned with my business.
When dealing with spiritual writers and authors, it is important to be honest and open. Do not make promises you cant keep and do not tell them what they want to hear simply just to sign a client.
I am very selective with who I choose to work with. Not only do I require the writer to be aligned with pure intentions, but I only work with writers who have a purpose deeply rooted in service to others with the intention of uplifting and empowering humanity.
Most of my clients come from referrals. So it is very important to me to have thorough consultations, and manage expectations right from the start. I also prioritize communication and allow my clients to contact me or book a zoom call with me as often as they need to. I keep my clients happy by being genuine and authentic with them. This leads to referrals and repeat clients.
