Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ambria Sawyer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ambria, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
So when I first started my skincare line of course I didn’t have much customer but I did already sell eyelashes so in a sense I had customers. I did giveaway and a few people actually said they wanted it and they loved it! It was called turmeric scrub at the time & it helped get rid of their dark spots under their eyes & lips and wherever they had it. This one customer I was talking to about trying our scrub was very skeptical about trying it she said she tried everything and nothing worked or she broke out. So I kept talking to her about it and she felt comfortable enough to try it, I was really excited for her because I knew it was going to work. When she got the package she did a video I was so happy! The best moment because not a lot of my customers do that. So I was just going about my day and I believe I checked up on her and she loved it! Her spots was starting to clear and she never knew she could ever be confident about that ever!! She left a great review and it was the best moment ever! I was so glad I was able to do help something that nothing else could do , I do this because I care about my customers I’m in the medical field so it’s a different type of care .

Ambria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi everyone, I’m Ambria Sawyer the CEO of Mink’D By Bri/Oceans By Bri . I started selling eyelashes mid September last year 2021 I wanted to do this for years only because it brings out women confidence and brings a unique look especially when they put on makeup. Of course in the beginning I didn’t have much sales because I was knew to people & everyone was selling eyelashes so it was like I had to be different stand out from others. So I came out with an eyelash washer so you can wash your lashes and wear them more than 20x. It was a game changer! I did pop up shops and ads everything. To be honest it was hard still is but I’m not giving up I see way past this. Now the Oceans By Bri I came out with this year in February ish , I always wanted to make natural products especially sugar scrubs and oils . The name literally just came out of nowhere , my man actually came up with it. I wanted to help other with their skin the natural way of course not people do even know about sugar scrubs and know they actually do more amazing benefits to our skin. The main reason is removing dead skin cells our skin sheds every 28 days so we have to make sure we exfoliate. Dark spots come from dead skin cells the only way to form and produce new skin cells is to clean, hydrate & exfoliate. There’s more into it but this is the basic’s.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I only sell on Shopify & Instagram for right now definitely wanted to expand on Esty, Target, & Walmart. The pros would definitely be for people to easy to shop so they don’t have to directly message you all the time. It gives people an experience & see what all you sell. Basically just makes the job easier . The cons would be to be honest not everyone is going to shop when they come to your website, people may reach the cart & never look back to actually shop, you have 300-400 visitors a month and only 10 or 20 people shop . It can be devastating but keep going anyways . People have to trust you and that alone takes a lot .
Have you ever had to pivot?
So I’m a medical assistant and I absolutely love to take care of people with a passion. I love being able to make a change or make a person feel better . But I soon to realize I didn’t want to become a RN I felt like it was a waste of time I’m trying to make millions and work on my own time . A job cannot give me that . I always wanted more money, I wanted to move up & not wait a year to do that I feel 6 months is enough time to get to know a job especially if you put in the work to actually know more about the company. So I had to do something else I like to do . I’m actually doing individual mink lashes along with my skincare line . I want my own store and studio and I can say I did it and it’s mines . No more working for people
