We recently connected with Ambi Shantay and have shared our conversation below.
Ambi, appreciate you joining us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
As a Christian author, the journey from idea to execution is deeply spiritual. For me, it always begins with a vision—a whisper from God, a stirring in my spirit that won’t let go. Habakkuk 2:2 says, “Write the vision and make it plain…” That scripture has been a guiding light. Once the vision is received, obedience is the next step.
I take time to pray over the idea, seeking clarity and alignment with God’s purpose. From there, I move to planning—breaking the vision into manageable goals and timelines. I treat it like a divine assignment: outlining chapters, setting writing goals, and carving out sacred time to create.
Execution requires discipline, but it’s fueled by faith. There were moments I felt unqualified or unsure, but I reminded myself that if God gave me the vision, He would also equip me to carry it out. Wisdom in the Wounds was born from a place of personal healing, and I believe that’s what makes it powerful—when the author writes not just with ink, but with testimony.
Staying connected to God throughout the process is everything. Vision is holy. Writing is worship. And when the book finally meets the hands of the reader, that’s when vision turns to impact—and that’s the real reward.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Who is Ambi Shantay?
Ambi Shantay is a faith-driven author, speaker, and transformational voice for women navigating life’s most complex seasons. With a heart for healing and a gift for storytelling, she uses her personal testimony to empower evolving Christian women to embrace grace, grow through pain, and rediscover purpose on the other side of their wounds.
Her newest book, Wisdom in the Wounds, is more than a title—it’s a movement. It speaks to the woman who has been broken, but not buried. The woman who has questions, but also unwavering faith. Through her words, Ambi brings light to the dark places and hope to hearts in transition.
What is my brand?
Ambi Shantay’s brand is rooted in faith, authenticity, and transformation. It serves women who are spiritually awakening, emotionally healing, and courageously becoming. At its core, the brand exists to create safe spaces—through books, conversations, and community—where Christian women can grow in truth and thrive in grace.
The message is simple but powerful: your wounds are not the end of your story—they’re where your wisdom begins.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
If I had to share a story about resilience, I would have to say—my entire journey is the story. On April 13, 2015, everything changed. I wasn’t supposed to make it off the operating table the day I gave birth to my baby girl. Both of us coded. And although I survived, it felt like a piece of me died that day. Trauma doesn’t just leave scars on the body—it echoes through the spirit.
That moment became the line in the sand: before and after. I’ve been fighting for my comeback ever since.
My first book, Healing Flows, was born out of that very fight. It is my testimony in written form—a declaration that survival is sacred, and healing is possible. Writing it was part of my restoration. Speaking it was part of my surrender. Living it has become part of my purpose.
And while I can now say I am healed, I know healing isn’t a destination—it’s a daily choice. Every day, I recommit to becoming the best version of myself. Every day, I choose to believe that even broken beginnings can birth beautiful stories.
That is resilience to me: showing up, scarred but surrendered, and letting God write the rest.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I’ve often wished there were more accessible spaces and opportunities specifically for creatives in Middle Tennessee. While there may be resources available, many aren’t widely known—or they’re hard to take advantage of when writing and creating isn’t your full-time job. Balancing a passion project with life’s responsibilities can make it challenging to fully tap into the creative community. I believe more visible, inclusive, and flexible opportunities would be a game-changer for emerging voices like mine.
