We were lucky to catch up with Amber Zimmitt recently and have shared our conversation below.

Amber, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

So it’s kinda funny how I started, so as a teenager I got myself into trouble with the law and I got a background that continued into my adulthood , as a teen mom it never hit me until I started trying to get my life in order and started applying for jobs. Baby when I say after having a background it was sooo hard finding a job it was the hardest thing ever! Imagine maturing into your adult self and everything job you apply to denies you of employment. Whew life started to life for me I was a single mom raising a son , I wanted to move on with my life and start doing the right thing. Applying for jobs left and right going through the whole hiring process just to get turned down every single time was a hurt piece , mentally I was drained I wanted to end it give up, I used to pray to god day in and day out for someone to give me a second chance. It’s crazy how a little mistake from a teen can have such a big effect on your adult life. Working jobs for little to no money began to drain me even more because it wasn’t enough money for me raising a kid alone, it was extremely hard! I would quit jobs because the was paying $12 or less , doing jobs I hated such as factory jobs , being a flagger all the kind of jobs that real criminals have when the get out of jail. I always live clothes and fashion, all the jobs I wanted I couldn’t get due to my background. So I find this lady who was hiring for a cleaner , I applied for the position and the money was not so good either but at that point I was desperate. She was paying me 2 hundred and something a week not including gas to drive to all the houses I had to clean. I learned her business , I seen all the money she was bringing in weekly from cleaning people houses, I would collect her checks from jobs I did myself, and from that point it clicked lol I said I can do this! I worked for her a little longer to build my portfolio far as cleaning pictures from jobs I did and I started a instagram page , made a website, and I finally quit! I didn’t start cleaning right away so I find another job I hated at a pharmaceutical company, I hated it so much the second day of hire I Quit! From that day I started my cleaning business , I used my photos from the jobs and I was cleaning family houses creating content. I created a website I sent them the link to leave a review and my business been growing every since , this is now year 4 and I am so proud of my self for believing in me! Things has been great! I definitely get slow days and weeks but I’m very consistent plus I have a 5star google business so I’m always getting calls and bookings. God is good!

My name is Amber Latoya owner of Toya tidy housekeeping llc , I started my business in 2020 , I am almost at year 4 in business! Within 3 1/2 years I created a 5 star google business located in Philadelphia, I specialize in residential and commercial cleaning. We have a great reputation, my company is known for our excellent customer service, we value all of our customers, we offers discounts, loyalty cards, free cleans etc. We offer various services such as basic cleans , deep cleans, move in and out cleans, post construction cleans, daycares, offices, barbershops , salons you name it. Most of my client hire me because they need a professional to clean their homes vs them doing it they selves, We are customer obsessed. We work to earn our customers’ trust, solve problems that my customers have , or if they having a problem cleaning something tough or something to hard for them , they book me to help get the job done. People book with my company because I’m trustworthy, meticulous I have a great reputation, o do jobs most companies think is too much. I am most proud of my ambition, I proud of myself, I really started a cleaning company and within my 1 st year I made so much money my head spent, I couldn’t believe that girl with a felon did that! I’m proud that I built a 5star company, I’m proud that my customers love me and they only wanna use my company, I’m just so proud of business and how fast it’s growing. I want all of my supporters to know that I love them deep , if it was for them I wouldn’t be the person I am today! I just wanna thank them for my second chance to get things right and to my an inspiration to any one who fell defeated , I wanna let them know that there time will come and if you get a idea go for it! Don’t be afraid to fail, it definitely gets greater later.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I didn’t get any funding to start my business , I literally quit my job and with my last pay check, which was less then $300 I brought some supplies I needed such as ,business card , flyers and cleaning solutions to use while I started to cleaning my family and my friends family houses.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

What help me scale my business and built the reputation I have which is a 5 star cleaning company, is my customer service. Every customer I service I make them feel comfortable, seen , understood, important, and heard! I make sure each client is satisfied, I go above and beyond for all of my clients. Doing that I created great relationships, long time customers/ family. My customers love me so much they give me great tips , gifts, most importantly great reviews and referrals. Reviews and referrals is the keys when you service your clients you want them to be so happy and satisfied they will promote your business for you! They be so happy they wanna tell their friends , family and coworkers.
