We were lucky to catch up with Amber Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amber thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
It took me over 5 years to really work on all of my endeavors. A lot of it came naturally and the rest of it was a-lot of hard work. I think when you’re juggling multiple thing you really have to keep yourself balanced and on your toes. The best skill I learned was to keep learning. Even to this day I’m teaching myself because the true nature of art never stops evolving. The biggest challenge I think I faced was personal and mental and having to perform on days when I knew I needed rest. Finding balance is really crucial in becoming exactly who you want.
Amber, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Currently I am a photographer, model and makeup artist!l. And for me it’s the perfect concoction learning to do makeup is one thing but making it camera ready is another and having an eye for what will not only look best but have the best quality is very important. I love making my clients feel empowered and beautiful that is my main goal. Creating a space for people to not only trust you but feel comfortable is really special and I never take that for granted. I spent countless hours trying to not only perfect the makeup but also perfect it on camera. Modeling is something I wasn’t initially into but between both fields it just sort of happened. This year I plan to dive deeper into it and become the best version I can possibly be.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
SHARE, SUPPORT AND CHEER! I can’t express enough how important small impacts can be. A lot of people forget how a like, comment or share can lead to open doors for people. Half of my clients are simply from people being open to sharing and supporting my work and I couldn’t be more grateful. I also believe that energy doesn’t stop with others I think being an artist you should be willing to do the same especially knowing what it’s like. Everyone deserves opportunity and in a saturated market there is still room for everyone to shine!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
TikTok has been my best Avenue for reaching an audience and I always wish I would have started it sooner. Connections and networking are limitless and growing! Take advantage!
