Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amber Susa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amber, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on, and completed, is my book, “Born To Be All Of Me: Moving Out Of Self-Abandonment Into Authentic Embodiment”. Ten years ago I experienced a dark night of the soul followed by a spiritual awakening that has led me on a journey of becoming the woman I was born to be. Throughout my journey I have journaled, finding satisfaction in the cathartic and creative expression of writing. I always dreamed of writing a book, but it wasn’t until I wrote and performed my one-woman-show, “Waking Up To All Of Me”, last year, that I knew it was time … writing my book was the next soul assignment. This book is an invitation inside my personal, private, painful and empowering journey so far. It is a culmination of journal entries, insights and wisdom gained, quotes from teachers who have inspired me, and writing prompts meant to assist the reader on their own path to becoming all of who they were born to be. My book was yet another leap of faith, another yes to the call of my soul. I share about my painful struggles with addiction, toxic co-dependent relationships, and the debilitating low back pain that led to a meditation practice and path to healing. It is my greatest hope that my journey from self-abandonment into authentic embodiment will inspire others to say yes to the life that is calling to them … the life they were born to live.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been in the fitness and wellness industry for the past two decades. I opened my first fitness studio in 2011, and in 2014 after the birth of my second child, severe and debilitating low back pain led me on a healing journey and quest to discover the root cause of this never-experienced-before pain. I discovered meditation and the concept of holistic health and healing, and in 2018 I opened my second studio, Allomi (all-of-me), a holistic health and healing studio bringing together movement, meditation and mindfulness.
Allomi quickly became a haven of healing for the community, and is something I will forever be grateful for and proud of. In 2020 I navigated the global pandemic as a business owner, and a divorce as a mother of two young children. My strength and resilience, faith and devotion to my healing journey, as well as the support of family and friends, saw me through some incredibly challenging times.
In February 2020 I made one of the most self-loving choices to date and let go of alcohol. Today I enjoy supporting those who also desire a life free of alcohol, and am so excited to be leading a 30-day challenge: “All Of Me: Alcohol Free” starting September 1st.
In 2023 I wrote and performed my one-woman-show, “Waking Up To All Of Me: The Integration Of The Inner Child & The Empowered Woman” bringing together my passion to perform and my deep soul desire to share my story of awakening. In February 2024 I released my book, “Born To Be All Of Me: Moving Out Of Self-Abandonment Into Authentic Embodiment” and decided to let go of the Allomi brick-and-mortar space to focus on my mission as a speaker, performer, teacher, healer, author, podcast host and coach.
I also lead groups of women through my signature program: “The Awakened Woman: Six Steps To Authentic Embodiment”. I enjoy having heartfelt and meaningful conversations on my podcast, “Born To Be All Of Me”. I live in my happy place teaching a twice-weekly empowered dance class to amazing women. I coach women 1:1 to heal and move out of self-abandoning patterns into their most authentically expressed and empowered lives. I share my story from stages to empower and inspire through my lived experiences and wisdom gained so far. I say yes to the call of my soul each time another Divine assignment presents itself. And I have the honor of a lifetime to be the mother to my 9-year old son Will and 11-year old daughter Dawson.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am blessed to be an awakened woman. My mission is to help all women awaken and remember the truth of who they are, so that they may experience their most awakened, authentic and empowered life and contribute to the greater collective healing. My journey has taken me on a quest to understand my life and make sense of all the self-abandoning choices I have made; Drug rehab at the age of 19, painful and toxic relationships, twice divorced, etc. I have discovered how generational trauma gets passed down and how subconscious patterns and beliefs are imprinted between the ages of 0 and 7. These subconscious beliefs dictate our choices, and until we can bring them into the conscious and heal, we will continue to repeat unwanted cycles. I want this for me, I want this for all women, I want this for my children. I want this for the world. I truly believe the world will be a better place, and that we will heal as a collective, if women step into their full power, their true nature, the Divine Feminine. I believe our world needs the love of The Great Mother, the intuitive, powerful and nurturing nature of the Awakened Woman. I do this for all the women in my family who abandoned themselves, gave away their power, and lost themselves in co-dependent, people-pleasing relationships and circumstances. And I do this for all the future generations in my lineage and beyond. This is my Divine assignment. This is why I have gone through everything I have gone through. This is why I am here.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When I express myself fully, whether it is through dance or storytelling, singing or speaking … my soul lights up and there is no greater feeling. And when this authentic expression helps others to heal and feel safe to express all of who they are, the reward is bliss. I intuitively knew as a young girl that I had an abundance of emotion that needed an outlet, and this is why I was naturally drawn to the arts. I would put on shows in my parents living room, sing songs as though there was an audience of thousands. I became a professional actress, dancer, singer, writer, performer as a young girl and enjoyed this form of expression most of my life growing up. And now as an adult, it brings me tremendous joy to be able to use my gifts to inspire others, whether it be through reading my book, listening to my podcast, taking my dance class, hearing me speak from stage, seeing me perform my one-woman-show, or even just sitting across from me as I listen and hold space through the lens of my empathic compassionate Divine Feminine self. It makes all the struggles I’ve gone through, worth it, when I see another woman’s face light up with hope as she begins to connect with her truth.
