Amber, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later

After seven months of being a business owner, I find myself asking, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?” The answer, in retrospect, is straightforward: Timing is everything. It wasn’t the right time for me to take this leap of faith. There were valuable lessons to be learned, experiences to be gained, and personal growth to be achieved before embarking on this journey. It required a holistic approach that encompassed mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual preparedness. I’m grateful for the challenges and obstacles that I encountered, as they helped me to develop the resilience and tenacity I needed to succeed. I didn’t have anything handed to me on a silver platter; I had to work hard to get here. But now that I’m here, I’m excited about what the future holds.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I have always been passionate about helping people, boosting their confidence, and the beauty industry. Interestingly, as a child, I had a skincare routine unlike any other kids I knew.

When I began feeling burnt out from working a 9-5 in the Behavioral Health industry, I was on the hunt for a career that could reignite my passion. That’s when I discovered Esthetics, and despite being a working mom to my one-year-old daughter at the time, I decided to pursue it. Although it was challenging, completing the program remains one of my proudest moments.

After graduation, I worked in a spa setting, which allowed me to perform a range of services, including facial treatments, full-body waxing, brow and lash tinting, and makeup applications. However, I eventually found that the spa environment wasn’t the right fit for me. Consequently, I immersed myself in the waxing world and discovered my niche. I spent four years working at a chain wax establishment, even becoming a trainer for new hires. Though I always had the goal of starting my own business, I initially planned to do so in three to five years. However, by the end of my third year, I knew it was time to gear up and start my own business by the fourth year.

Ever since I started my business, my primary focus has been on waxing services. Recently, I added brow tinting to my portfolio, and I aspire to incorporate facial treatments in the future. What I find most enjoyable about my work is problem-solving. It’s a thrill to find quick and effective ways to remove unwanted hair while keeping clients content. I also enjoy inquiring about clients’ skin concerns and crafting personalized at-home routines to address them. It’s like working on a puzzle, and I adore puzzles. I believe my passion for helping people, my professional attitude, and my strong work ethic are what differentiates me from others in the industry.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

It’s fascinating to see how word-of-mouth recommendations are still an effective way to attract new clients in the world of social media. While building a social media presence takes time, it’s been a fun and rewarding experience so far.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

As a business owner, it’s vital to stay in touch with your clients. I utilize social media to keep my clients informed and engaged. Additionally, I offer a VIP club that provides exclusive deals via email to my clients. I also have a referral program in place as well as a shout-out program that rewards clients with special deals for simply giving a shout-out on social media.
