We were lucky to catch up with Amber Nemer-Garcia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amber thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Fashion has always been my voice—a way to express myself. Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved putting outfits together. From wearing my mom’s heels as a little girl to carefully choosing my school outfits, I was always excited to mix and match pieces, never wanting to wear the same look twice.
I’ve always loved thrift shopping, and over time, I accumulated so many clothes that I started selling at flea markets as a teenager. The money I made would go right back into buying more clothes, fueling my passion for fashion.
At 18 years old, I opened my first boutique—a small resale shop inside an indoor flea market called Centeno. I only opened on weekends, but that’s where I truly discovered my purpose. I found so much fulfillment in helping women feel beautiful, whether it was styling them with accessories or giving them outfit ideas they hadn’t considered. Seeing them walk away with a smile was everything to me.
It was like a light bulb went off—I realized that so many women needed help with styling, whether it was putting together outfits or learning how to accessorize. What felt natural to me was something they appreciated, and from that moment, I knew I wanted to empower women through fashion.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Fashion has always been my voice—a way to express myself and empower others. Ever since I was a little girl, I found joy in styling, whether it was playing dress-up in my mom’s heels or carefully picking out my school outfits, always eager to mix and match pieces to create something new. My love for fashion grew with me, and by the time I was a teenager, I was thrift shopping, collecting unique pieces, and selling them at flea markets. I took the money I earned and reinvested it into more fashion finds, not knowing at the time that this passion would later shape my career.
At 18 years old, I opened my first boutique—a small resale shop inside an indoor flea market called Centeno. It was only open on weekends, but that’s where I discovered my true purpose. I wasn’t just selling clothes—I was helping women feel beautiful and confident. Styling them, giving fashion tips, and seeing their excitement when they found something that made them feel good made me realize that this was more than just retail—it was about transformation.
That passion led to the creation of NEMERS BOUTIQUE, a brand dedicated to empowering women through fashion. I provide curated clothing, accessories, and styling services that help women look and feel their best. My boutique isn’t just about selling clothes—it’s about creating an experience where women can learn how to style themselves with confidence. I believe that what we wear impacts how we feel, and my goal is to help women dress intentionally and with purpose.
What Sets NEMERS Apart?
• Personalized Styling: I help women put together outfits that suit their body type, lifestyle, and personality.
• Empowerment Through Fashion: My boutique is about more than just clothes—it’s about helping women feel strong, beautiful, and confident.
• Community Giving: NEMERS partners with Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides professional attire and resources to women entering the workforce. Fashion should uplift, and I love using my boutique to give back.
• Curated Collections: Every piece in my boutique is carefully selected to ensure style, quality, and versatility.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of how far I’ve come—from selling at flea markets as a teen to running a successful boutique and helping women feel empowered through fashion. I’ve built my brand with passion, purpose, and faith, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my love for fashion with others.
What I Want You to Know About NEMERS
NEMERS is more than a boutique—it’s a movement. It’s about finding confidence in what you wear, embracing your unique style, and showing up as the best version of yourself. Whether you need styling advice, a wardrobe refresh, or just a place to find inspiration, I’m here to help.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me—I can’t wait to style you!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Losing my father was one of the hardest moments of my life. He was my rock, my biggest supporter, and the person who always believed in me, even when I doubted myself. His passing left a void that felt impossible to fill, but in that pain, I found purpose.
Fashion had always been my escape, my creative outlet, and my way of expressing myself. But after losing my father, it became something more—it became my healing. I threw myself into my work, determined to build something meaningful, something that would honor him and everything he taught me.
That’s why my boutique is called NEMERS—it’s a tribute to him and my family name. It’s a reminder of where I come from, the strength I carry, and the legacy I want to build. Every piece in my boutique, every styling session, every woman I help feel confident in what she wears is a reflection of that resilience.
Through this journey, I’ve learned that fashion isn’t just about clothes—it’s about empowerment, confidence, and carrying yourself with purpose, even in the face of hardship. My father always encouraged me to chase my dreams, and even though he’s no longer here physically, I feel his presence in everything I do.
NEMERS isn’t just a brand—it’s a testament to perseverance, love, and the belief that we can turn pain into purpose. And that’s what keeps me going every single day.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started using social media for NEMERS BOUTIQUE, I had no idea how powerful it would become for my business. At the beginning, it was just me sharing my love for fashion—posting outfit ideas, styling tips, and pieces from my boutique. But over time, I realized that engagement and connection were just as important as the content itself.
I built my audience by being consistent, authentic, and intentional with what I shared. Instead of just posting products, I started sharing my story—why I started NEMERS, my passion for helping women feel beautiful, and even personal moments that made my journey real and relatable. People connect with people, not just products, and that made all the difference.
I also focused on community rather than just numbers. I engaged with my followers by responding to comments, answering styling questions, and creating polls and interactive content that made them feel involved. Instead of treating social media as just a sales platform, I used it as a way to inspire, educate, and empower women through fashion.
Advice for Those Starting to Build Their Social Media Presence
1. Be Consistent – Post regularly so your audience knows what to expect from you. Even if it’s just a few times a week, consistency is key.
2. Share Your Story – Don’t just sell—connect. People want to know why you do what you do. Share behind-the-scenes moments, challenges, and victories.
3. Engage With Your Audience – Respond to comments, ask questions, and interact with followers. Social media is about building relationships, not just broadcasting messages.
4. Create Value – Whether it’s styling tips, outfit inspiration, or advice, give your audience something useful that keeps them coming back.
5. Use Video & Reels – Short-form videos and Instagram Reels/TikToks have massive reach right now. Show off your personality, style tips, or behind-the-scenes content in fun, engaging ways.
6. Collaborate – Work with influencers, other small businesses, or local events to expand your reach. Partnerships can introduce your brand to new audiences.
7. Be Patient & Keep Going – Growth doesn’t happen overnight. There were times I felt like my content wasn’t reaching enough people, but staying consistent and adapting to trends helped me grow my audience organically.
Social media is one of the most powerful tools for building a brand. If you show up authentically, consistently, and with purpose, your audience will grow, and so will your impact.
