We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Lowe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Amber, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on has to be Corporate Comedy LIVE. It’s not just a comedy show—it’s a movement. After experiencing the devastating loss of my sister and dealing with compounded grief, I found that humor became my therapy. But I didn’t want to just heal alone; I wanted to help others heal too, especially in the workplace. That’s how Corporate Comedy LIVE was born—a blend of comedy and mental health that reaches people in a way no traditional approach ever could. 💔😂
This project is close to my heart because it empowers employees to laugh through the stress of corporate life and find joy even in the chaos. We all know how draining work can be—deadlines, pressure, and burnout. But when we can find a way to laugh at ourselves, we become more productive, happier, and connected. That’s the core of Corporate Comedy LIVE—it’s #SeriouslyFunny, but it’s also deeply real. We’re teaching people that taking care of your mental health doesn’t mean sacrificing success.
The most powerful part is hearing people tell me how they’ve used the humor I share to cope, heal, and even prevent burnout. It’s inspiring to know that I’m making a difference and lifting people up one joke at a time. To me, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the impact of laughter on people’s lives. The best part? Knowing that, just like my comedy, it’s here to stay. 🌟 #CorporateComedyLIVE #MentalHealthMatters
Amber, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Houston’s Millionaire Matchmaker, and I’m all about blending comedy, relationships, and business in a way that makes people laugh and grow. My journey into this world wasn’t easy—I had to face the challenges of being a woman in comedy, overcoming the tough spots of racism and sexism, and pushing through to build my brand. But now, comedy isn’t just my career—it’s my superpower! 🎤💥
Through my company, Corporate Comedy LIVE, I’m on a mission to show that mental health can be talked about in a fun and uplifting way. I bring the laughs, but I also bring healing, teaching employees and entrepreneurs how to cope with stress, prevent burnout, and laugh through the tough times. The best part? It works. Laughter is a powerful tool, and when you add a little humor to your workday, you’ll see productivity soar and happiness follow! 🌟😂
I’ve had the privilege of partnering with some amazing brands like AT&T, DIRECTV, and Events and Adventures, who’ve been part of the Matchmaker Hotline journey. And let’s not forget my talk show—Matchmaker Hotline, where I get to mix comedy and relationship advice in a way that makes people feel seen, heard, and loved. ❤️
What I’m most proud of is knowing that I’m helping people, not just making them laugh. If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s that you don’t have to take life so seriously. Let’s laugh, let’s heal, and let’s shine! ✨ #SeriouslyFunny #LaughAndLive #MentalHealthMatters
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience has been a defining force in my life, especially after losing my sister to suicide. She was not just my writing partner, but my comedy wingman, and the one who truly understood my passion for comedy. In those early years, we’d hit open mics together, often doing two or three spots a night, seven nights a week. She was always by my side, encouraging me to trust my funny and keep pushing through the tough moments. She believed in me when I didn’t yet have the confidence to believe in myself. 🎤💔
Her death left a hole in my heart that I didn’t think I could fill. But instead of letting that pain define me, I found a way to honor her memory through Corporate Comedy LIVE. This project became my way of giving others the gift of laughter while also acknowledging the struggles we all face. In her honor, I built a business that blends comedy and mental health—because she was someone who always wanted others to feel joy, even if she couldn’t find it herself in her final moments.
Though I miss her every day, I channel the love, laughter, and support she gave me into the work I do now. She taught me the value of connection, the power of laughter, and how important it is to support one another, especially when it’s hard to see the light. Creating this business in her honor feels like the best way to keep her spirit alive, helping others find hope and laughter even through their darkest times. 🌟💖 #ForHer #ResilienceInHerHonor
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
People who may not work in creative fields might struggle to understand the emotional depth of my story, especially how comedy became my way to heal after losing my sister. To some, comedy might just seem like a way to get laughs, but for me, it’s a way to process pain and create connections. 🎤💔
What’s hard for others to grasp is how vulnerable you have to be in creative work. It’s not just about making people laugh—it’s about sharing pieces of your soul and helping others feel understood. My sister believed in me when I didn’t, and through Corporate Comedy LIVE, I get to honor her by using humor to help people with mental health and stress.
For those who may not work in creative fields, here’s the takeaway: Resilience and creativity aren’t exclusive to artists. We all have something we can contribute that can heal, connect, and inspire. My comedy may be my tool, but everyone has something meaningful to offer, whether it’s through their work, relationships, or community. Creativity and resilience are essential for everyone, no matter your craft. 🌟💖 #Inspiration #Resilience #HealingThroughLaughte
