We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amber Lockard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amber below.
Hi Amber, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
I joined the United States Navy in 2006 and I did not know at that time how that decision would change my life. I was deployed in 2007 aboard the USS Nimitz and during that time my skin started to develop acne. Every skin care option I tried only made my skin worse so when we arrived back in San Diego, I sought out an esthetician for a medical grade skin treatment. After 9 months, my skin had a wonderful turn around. I was obsessed with the process and I decided to continue my treatments as they made my skin healthy and personally made me happy to care for myself. After discharging from active duty in 2010, I attended college but the degree I was seeking was not going to fulfill my life. In 2014, I decided to attend esthetics school at Entourage Institute of Beauty and Esthetics in Lenexa, KS. I wanted to become the professional who had helped clear my skin and bring joy to others as it had to my life. Over the next 4 years upon graduating, I accepted three positions at varies spas in Kansas City but I was not in control of the treatments nor the products that were necessary for a completed skin treatment experience. That’s when in 2019, I decided to open my own esthetic office to have full creative freedom to treat skin completely. I wanted to elevate the skin care experience and heal those who are directed to me. I now have expanded to a second office, have a staff of two employees and we are continuing to grow. I look back on those days of my acneic skin feeling grateful that it would lead me to this beautiful profession. My team and I will continue to offer results-driven, medical grade skin care with the ambience of a day spa. Our mission is to heal skin while spreading love, joy and kindness one face at a time. It is both an honor and a blessing to treat those who are directed to our practice.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the industry after experiencing acne on deployment in 2007 while serving in the United Sates Navy. I provide results-driven medical grade treatments and products.
I solve skin care related problems for clients while providing a personal awareness of self care and self love.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is that I make medial grade skin care affordable allowing clients to visit more often leading to higher success and better results. I am not driven by monetary gain but quality of care ensuring that each client is taken care of completely. I am highly trained and my staff is highly trained personally by myself as well. We attend yearly skin conferences, trainings and events to offer the best possible treatments and products the industry has to offer.
I am most proud of our mission of skin health and wellness for all. The fact that I am able to provide high quality treatments and products at affordable rates reaching more people sets me apart. Skin care shouldn’t be for only certain demographics but for all. I genuinely care for all humans and I will continue to have their best interests at heart in all that I do.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped build my reputation in this industry is the fact that I am open and honest. I do not over promise but give clear expectations for each individual. All those directed to my practice understand they will be fully cared for and listened to. We will never sell you anything but recommend the best service and product for each individual. Lastly, our skill is impeccable. My team and I are highly trained by leading professionals in the industry. Our honesty, integrity and skill set lead to a solid reputation as a leading provider in our area.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that time is money. At a certain point that is a toxic mindset. Caring for others and making a difference in their health has no time limit. In my practice, we all take our time, get to know our clients, and care for them deeply no matter how long it takes.
