We recently connected with Amber LaTrece and have shared our conversation below.
Amber, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Ever since I can remember, my heart has always had a special place for helping people. It’s been a driving force throughout my life, but like all journeys, mine had its challenges. There were moments when I desperately needed support and encouragement, and that’s where the power of connection was revealed. When I connected with fellow sisters, there was an undeniable magic in those bonds. It was in those moments of shared strength, inspiration, and mutual support that the seeds of FemFuture were planted and allowed to flourish. At its core, FemFuture is grounded in a profound belief: “The Future is Female.” (Please note that we cherish and appreciate the men in our lives and recognize the pivotal roles they play in shaping our world. However, our unwavering focus is on celebrating the incredible strength and boundless potential of women.)
My own journey, whether in my personal life or my professional endeavors, has been deeply influenced by the extraordinary women who have crossed my path and those who’ve blazed trails for future generations. Throughout history, powerful women have left indelible marks on society. Icons like the indomitable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who fearlessly championed women’s rights, and my remarkable aunt, Jerelyn Butler, who became the first black woman to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mississippi College, have ignited an unwavering passion within me.
As I reflect upon the doors that have swung open for me, I can’t help but be mindful of those that remain closed or barely ajar. It was in these moments of reflection that a desire for impact and the stories of these incredible women, and so many more like them, inspired me to create FemFuture, LLC and The FemFuture Podcast with Amber LaTrece. I wholeheartedly believe that we are at our strongest when we come together, and I’m convinced that everyone has a story worth sharing—one that has the power to engage, encourage, and support others. It’s through The FemFuture Podcast with Amber LaTrece that we provide a platform for women who have navigated life’s twists and turns to share their stories. Our unwavering belief is that through the telling of these stories, we can inspire other women as they continue to script their own narratives.
And, soon, the FemFuture Community, a space we’ve created where women can come together to engage, encourage, and support one another on their unique journeys. If you feel a connection to our mission or any aspect of the stories I’ve shared, I invite you to join us on this incredible journey at FemFuture.co. Together, we will celebrate the strength of women, amplify their voices, and craft a future where every woman’s story is heard and cherished.

Amber, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Amber LaTrece, the founder of FemFuture, LLC and The FemFuture Podcast with Amber LaTrece, and I’m on a mission to empower women. I want to see women engage, encourage, and support each other as they thrive together. So I’ve created an ever-evolving platform where we can share our stories, connect, and grow together!
My life’s journeys have been a mosaic of experiences that have shaped me into the woman I am today. An academic journey starting with a degree in Physics, finished with an MBA with a concentration in International Business. A personal journey starting with the purpose of being a beacon for love, light and joy, took me to six continents and over 20 countries. A professional journey starting with Corporate America and a venture into humanitarian aid is currently being navigated as a road map to empowering women through FemFuture, LLC and The FemFuture Podcast with Amber LaTrece. My journey through life has always read like an epic novel, and I’m still writing chapters. If you want to know more, let’s be sure to connect at FemFuture.co.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
If life awarded advanced degrees in transitions, uncertainty, and pivots, I’m convinced I would hold a Ph.D.! My journey started at Tuskegee University, a place where I encountered so many opportunities to pivot that I could fill a book. For now, though, let’s fast-forward to the pivotal moments that came after my university days. While I was at university, I had my heart set on heading to grad school. But then came an interview at a conference that changed everything. In a heartbeat, I shifted gears, leaving behind the allure of graduate studies to embrace the corporate world. The corporate realm offered me a chance to manage teams, handle multi-million dollar budgets, tackle complex government regulations, and negotiate international contracts. I poured my energy into growing and progressing in this corporate space, until the moment came for another pivot.
As I worked diligently for the business, I started to feel like something was missing from my life – a deeper sense of impact. Being a spiritual and faith-driven person, giving back and making a difference had always held a special place in my heart. When I felt a calling to something greater, I embarked on yet another pivot. This time, I made a conscious shift away from the corporate sector and into the world of humanitarian aid. As I began working in this field, I found myself face-to-face with the opportunity to make a real, tangible impact. It all started with my service in the South African townships of Oceanview and Masiphumelele. There, I poured my heart into helping children and youth, supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS, and lending a hand at a vision clinic. Eventually, I packed my bags and moved to Ethiopia, where I dedicated myself to serving young girls, with an average age of 14 years old, who were trapped in the sex industry and sex trafficking. These experiences, while incredibly challenging, were also the most rewarding of my life. Following my time in Ethiopia, my journey took me to over 20 countries, where I spread love, offered help, and cared for people in the best ways I knew how. It all led me to Greece, where I found myself at the Moria Refugee Camp, assisting countless individuals displaced by war, famine, and unimaginable struggles.
I had every intention of returning to a full-time life of service until the world was hit with a pandemic, and I faced yet another unexpected pivot. This time, I found myself back in the traditional workforce. I had to navigate the transition from high-stress, trauma-filled environments to a more typical job. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t quite recreate the same level of impact I had grown accustomed to. So, I embarked on a journey to figure out how to continue making a meaningful difference while adapting to my new normal in the traditional workspace. After years of searching, trying things that succeeded and some that didn’t, I founded an organization that would allow me to bring the impact I desired to this new season of life, FemFuture, LLC and The FemFuture Podcast with Amber LaTrece. Through our platform, we engage, encourage, and support women who, like me, have pivoted in life, all by sharing their incredible stories. We believe that by telling our stories, we can inspire and empower other women as they navigate their unique journeys. If you find a connection to this tale or our mission, we invite you to join us on this extraordinary journey at FemFuture.co.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In a world where the concept of success is often dictated by society’s relentless demands for more, I too found myself entangled in the endless pursuit of an ever-elusive achievement. Society told us that our accomplishments should be nothing short of extraordinary. If we wrote a book, it had to be a bestseller; if we penned a song, it had to dominate the Billboard charts, and if we launched a business, it needed to skyrocket within a year. Like so many, I followed this prescribed path, relentlessly climbing the corporate ladder in pursuit of that elusive societal success.
But then, life presented me with a transformative opportunity—an opportunity to unlearn society’s lesson. It was a lesson deeply rooted in how I defined success. This transformation could never have occurred without my time abroad, where I discovered that success could be something far simpler and profoundly more impactful. It wasn’t about grandiose achievements; it was about the moments when I watched young trafficked girls find refuge in a safe space after living on the streets. It was the tears of joy shed by refugee families when they learned they were one step closer to asylum. It was the radiant smile and warm embrace of an elderly woman who could finally see clearly for the first time, thanks to a pair of corrective lenses. It was about embracing humility, openness, and a willingness to learn from the diverse tapestry of human existence.
This redefined notion of success is a foundational pillar of FemFuture, LLC and The FemFuture Podcast with Amber LaTrece. Here, we put a deliberate emphasis on changing lives through storytelling. Our podcast celebrates every form of success, from the monumental to the seemingly small, because in each of these stories, we find progress and significance. Today, the podcast embodies my very definition of success, but just as life constantly evolves, so does my understanding of it. My next milestone on this journey is the creation of the FemFuture community—a space where women can engage, encourage, and support one another as they curate a better future for themselves and those around them. If you feel a connection to our mission or resonate with the stories I’ve shared, I invite you to join me on this next phase of my success journey at FemFuture.co.
