Amber, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I still remember the day Sisters Walking in Purpose was just an idea. It was born out of a personal desire to create a space where women could come together, heal, grow, and feel empowered to live out their purpose. At that time, I was already passionate about helping women succeed, but I wanted to do something bigger—something that could reach women all over the world, not just in my immediate circle.
The very next day, I knew I had to start taking action, even though I didn’t have all the answers. I started by jotting down my vision for the community. What did I want it to look like? Who was it for? What kind of value did I want to provide? These questions helped me clarify my mission: to create a space where women could feel supported in both their personal and professional growth.
One of the first practical steps was figuring out how to create an online platform where this community could thrive. I started by researching different social media platforms and realized that Facebook groups had the kind of interactive environment I was looking for. I didn’t have a big budget, so I leveraged the free tools I had available, starting small but with a clear purpose.
The next few months were all about building and setting the foundation. I had to learn how to set up and manage a group, how to create content that resonated with the women I wanted to reach, and how to build engagement. I also spent a lot of time networking and reaching out to other women who shared my vision, asking them to join me in this journey.
One of the biggest hurdles in those early days was finding my voice as a leader. I knew what I wanted to say, but figuring out how to communicate that vision in a way that would inspire others to join me was a process. I attended online courses and seminars on content creation, leadership, and community building. It was about laying the groundwork and consistently showing up—even when the growth was slow.
In the first year, it was a lot of trial and error. I’d test different strategies for engagement and see what resonated most with the women in the group. I also realized I needed to invest in tools to streamline operations—things like email marketing and scheduling tools—which helped me scale the community faster than I had imagined.
What started as an idea soon became a community of women, each pushing one another toward their goals. Over time, the group grew organically. And now, with over 18,000 women globally, Sisters Walking in Purpose has become more than I ever dreamed. It took a lot of learning, patience, and showing up daily, but it’s a journey I’m so grateful I started.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots I had to make was during the early days of building Sisters Walking in Purpose. When I first started, I envisioned it as a simple community—a space for women to connect and share their stories. But as the group began to grow, I quickly realized that there was a much deeper need. Women weren’t just looking for connection; they were looking for guidance, resources, and a roadmap to help them navigate both personal and professional challenges.
At first, I wasn’t sure how to meet those needs. I had to shift from just being a community leader to being a mentor and coach. That meant pivoting my approach and expanding my skillset. I invested in learning more about content creation, leadership development, and personal growth coaching. I had to think bigger—how could I not only create a supportive community but also offer practical tools and strategies to help these women succeed?
This shift pushed me to launch my content coaching services, and it’s what ultimately led me to write my book, From Vision to Venture. It was a turning point that transformed Sisters Walking in Purpose from just a Facebook group into a global movement, where women could heal, grow, and be empowered to step into their purpose.
The pivot was challenging, but it taught me the importance of listening to the needs of your audience and being willing to evolve with your purpose. It wasn’t always easy, but looking back, it was the best decision I could have made for both myself and the women I serve.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
When I first started Sisters Walking in Purpose, I didn’t have a lot of capital to work with. I knew I had a vision, but like many entrepreneurs, the question of funding was a big one. Instead of waiting for the “perfect” financial situation, I decided to start with what I had—time, passion, and a deep desire to create something meaningful.
I bootstrapped the business from the ground up. Since my initial platform was on Facebook, I took advantage of the free resources available to build a community. I focused on creating value and connection through content, and since there were little overhead costs involved, I was able to grow the group organically without needing a large financial investment upfront.
As the community grew and I began offering content coaching and other services, I reinvested the income I earned right back into the business. That’s how I was able to afford tools like email marketing systems, scheduling software, and resources to expand the brand. I also strategically connected with other women who shared my vision, which helped me collaborate and grow without needing massive capital.
What I learned through this process is that you don’t always need a lot of money to start—sometimes, starting small with a clear purpose and reinvesting along the way is just as powerful. For me, it was about being resourceful, consistent, and focusing on building relationships, and that allowed Sisters Walking in Purpose to grow into what it is today.
