We were lucky to catch up with Amber Jordan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Amber, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

I come from a single parent household. My mother did her best to raise 3 kids to the best of her ability. The one thing my mother did right was have faith in me, and give me room to express myself authentically. My mom also made it her mission to insure me that I was beautiful, and I could do ANYTHING.

As a little girl I use to get bullied about my weight, and how I looked. So often times that made me feel worthless, and ugly inside. I would try to fit in with certain crowds. And people to find validation.
In those moments my mother realized I was heading in the wrong direction and decided to talk to me. She told me that I am beautiful, I am capable, and I can do all things through Christ.

Her having those conversations with me helped me become the person I am today. Confident, Bold, Fearless, and Powerful.
Knowing your worth, and having confidence in yourself means so much to me because I didn’t have any of those things growing up.
The world can be very cruel, and if you don’t know your worth it can tear down. When I decided to be myself and not seek validation from others everything changed for me.

This has impacted me not only in life but in my career. I get to teach others the importance of self confidence, self worth, and body positivity. I also get to help them be the best they can be while living In their purpose.

Hello My name is Amber, I am a self taught makeup artist, content creator, & business owner! Being a professional makeup artist & content creator helps me give women an extra boost of confidence, while connecting with women across the globe. Often times I will get clients who have insecurities about skin conditions, or skin diseases. By Being a makeup artist I am able to give them a piece of their confidence back, while making them feel great!

What sets me apart from others is that I am very passionate about what I do. I take time to get to know, and connect with all of my clients. I also love to reassure my clients that they are naturally beautiful with or without makeup. Being a makeup artist can very challenging as there is so much information that you need to learn, and trends are constantly changing everyday. I try my best to study my craft, and make a difference with each face I say.

Being a content creator also gives me an opportunity to express myself, and connect with women across the nation. Growing up I didn’t see a lot of plus size black girls on social media, and on tv. I want to be that advocate for women to let them know that it is okay to love yourself aloud! No matter what society May tell us!

I am most proud of being able to encourage, inspire, and empower women. As stated before I didn’t have that growing up so it’s such a blessing to be that advocate for people who are looking up to me.

The main thing that I would like my future clients, followers, and fans to know is that you’re beautiful! God didn’t create you to fit in with other crowds or Society! He created you to stand out! Find your purpose and LIVE!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing the impact that I have on others. I didn’t notice how many people are actually watching me and being inspired by my journey. Those are the people I truly do it for. They also inspire to me to keep going, and to never give up.

Also being able to build new bonds with people I encounter whether it’s through makeup or content is truly the best feeling ever. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I built my audience on social media by interacting with my followers, and posting content! Content has played a major part in my life, and my business. It has attracted new clients, new business opportunities, and Helped me gain new followers. In this day and age I learned that it is very important to take advantage of social media, and use the tools that are already provided to you. By me posting content consistently, I have had the opportunity to get paid from social media and connect with other content creators.

My advice for those who are just starting out is to stay consistent and to be authentic! It doesn’t matter how many likes, or followers you have just post the content! Ask yourself what sets you apart from others, and how you can make a difference. Trends are fun, but being authentic will get you noticed!
