We recently connected with Amber Janae and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I have always believed in living and creating from a place of authenticity. My journey into lifestyle styling and branding has been deeply personal and rooted in my own desire to live a life that feels true to who I am. Along the way, I discovered the power of intentional living and how much our surroundings and how we show up in the world can shape our well-being. This personal discovery became the foundation for my mission at Dvn Oasis. What started as a passion for turning my ordinary world into a peaceful, inspiring sanctuary has grown into a calling to help others embrace their own unique path. For me, it’s never been about teaching or following a formula; it’s about finding what feels right for each of us. At the heart of my brand, Dvn Oasis, is the mission to empower women, particularly women of color, to live authentically and intentionally. Through Dvn Oasis, I aim to connect with individuals who are ready to design their own version of a fulfilling life. My mission is to empower everyone I work with to reconnect with themselves, embrace their individuality, and create lives and brands that reflect their unique essence. This is about living with intention, creativity, and a deep sense of purpose. The mission is deeply meaningful to me because it’s rooted in my own journey of breaking free from societal expectations and stepping into a life that feels true to who I am. I know firsthand the challenges of self-repression and the joy that comes from rediscovering your voice and creating something that feels real and uplifting.
Dvn Oasis isn’t just about branding or lifestyle design—it’s about cultivating freedom, joy, and authenticity. It’s about creating spaces where you can show up as your truest self and thrive in ways that feel deeply aligned with your passions and purpose. That’s what I’m here to share with the world: the freedom and joy that comes with designing a life and presence that reflect who you truly are.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Amber Janae, a strategic lifestyle stylist, brand consultant, and writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have a deep passion for intentional living, wellness, and self-discovery. My journey into this work has been anything but linear; it’s been deeply personal and rooted in my own transformation.
For years, I struggled with self-repression, living in ways that felt disconnected from my true self. It was through embracing intentional living that I began to rebuild my life in a way that felt aligned, meaningful, and purposeful. Along the way, I discovered how much our surroundings, personal style, and the way we show up in the world can shape our well-being. That realization inspired me to help others do the same, and from there, my company, Dvn Oasis, was born.
At Dvn Oasis, I offer a blend of lifestyle design and branding services, including strategic consulting, personalized workshops, and tools like my Authenticity Audit Workbook and self-guided courses. I help my clients not only craft brands that reflect who they truly are but also curate intentional lives that align with their values and aspirations. Whether someone is seeking clarity in their personal style, wanting to elevate their brand presence, or striving to live a more fulfilling life, my goal is to empower them to tap into their unique essence and create something that feels real, intentional, and inspired.
What sets me apart is my holistic approach. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all formula. Instead, I focus on the individual—on their passions, values, and what lights them up inside. My process is deeply rooted in authenticity, creativity, and self-discovery, blending practical strategies with emotional alignment.
I’m most proud of the space I’ve created for my clients and followers—a space where women feel seen, supported, and encouraged to take up space unapologetically. Through my blog, YouTube channel, podcast (Living Dvnly), and consulting services, I’ve cultivated a community of individuals who are eager to step into their power and live boldly and with intention.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients, followers, and supporters to know about me and my work, it’s that this isn’t just about aesthetics or surface-level achievements. It’s about creating a life and brand that reflect who you truly are, one that feels whole, fulfilling, and deeply personal. I’m here to walk with you on that journey, helping you uncover the freedom and joy that come with living authentically.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was that success is defined by external achievements or meeting societal expectations. For much of my life, I believed that my worth was tied to how much I accomplished, how perfect things appeared on the outside, or how well I conformed to what others expected of me.
This belief stemmed from a combination of societal conditioning and my own desire to feel validated and accepted. I spent years striving to meet these invisible standards, thinking that ticking off milestones or living up to others’ expectations would bring me happiness and fulfillment. But no matter how much I achieved, I often felt disconnected from myself, as though something was missing.
The turning point came during a period of deep introspection and burnout. I realized that I wasn’t living for myself. I was living to prove something to others. This realization was both liberating and unsettling. I had to unlearn the idea that success is something others can define for you. Instead, I began focusing on how my life felt rather than how it looked.
This shift wasn’t easy, but it was transformative. It taught me to center my decisions around what genuinely fulfills me, aligns with my values, and brings me joy. Today, I define success on my own terms, which often looks like living intentionally, being present with my family, and building a business that reflects who I truly am.
Unlearning this lesson has allowed me to create a life and career that feels deeply meaningful and aligned, and it’s a perspective I try to share with my clients and community. Authentic success starts from within, and it’s about curating a life that feels true to you, not what anyone else expects it to be.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most defining moments of resilience in my journey came during a season marked by profound loss and personal transformation. I experienced the unexpected passing of two friends within months of each other, friends who had been a constant source of encouragement and support throughout my life. Their absence created a lot of sadness, leaving me to navigate grief while also balancing the demands of life.
At the same time, I began to notice how life transitions, such as becoming a mother, also reshaped my relationships. Some friendships naturally drifted apart, and others were strained by the shifts in priorities and responsibilities that come with major life changes. The combination of these sudden and gradual losses felt overwhelming, and there were moments when I questioned how I could keep moving forward.
But through this season of loss, I found resilience in honoring the love and memories I shared with those who were no longer part of my life. I channeled my grief and the lessons these transitions taught me into my work and creativity. I allowed myself to feel the pain while also finding strength in creating something meaningful, not just for myself, but as a way to inspire and support others navigating similar experiences.
This journey taught me that resilience isn’t about avoiding hardship; it’s about facing it, growing through it, and using it as fuel to build a life that feels deeply aligned with who you are. Whether it’s the pain of losing someone close to you or the quiet heartbreak of friendships evolving with life’s seasons, these experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of intentional living.
Through it all, I’ve learned to embrace the beauty of change, even when it feels difficult, and to show up with love for myself, the people who remain, and the life I’m building. Resilience, to me, is the ability to hold space for both loss and growth, knowing that they often go hand in hand.
