We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Hedgeman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amber thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Growing up I always had a passion for beauty and being able to help others and make a difference. My grandmother Janette discovered my passion at a young age. When she discovered this I was only 10 years old. One day I had cut and pasted paper nails and colored them with nail polish. This creativity was something unique and outstanding to her. My grandmother always motivated me to be great in everything that I do. I gained a lot of knowledge and encouragement and kept moving forward. I knew from that moment on, I wanted to be in the beauty industry in some shape or form. I been creating different styles and techniques with hair and skin care since I was 15 years old. I got into creating hairstyles adding clip on hair extensions and trying out different hair colors. Then I notice I needed to create something for my skin so I started experimenting with ingredients that I had at home. I created a sugar scrub with homemade natural ingredients. The results from using this made my skin smooth and radiant. I kept innovating and researching and coming up with new techniques. I always stayed on top of current trends.

Amber , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My brand is about creating new hair and beauty trends. I offer lash and brow services as well my main product is wigs. Making these wigs and creating them for the everyday woman and models and influencers like myself. My plan is to create a safe space for woman to look and feel beautiful no matter what hair type, style or profession they are in. I graduated Empire Beauty School in 2012 with a lot of experience doing hair styles such as finger waves, curls, roller sets, color theory, just to name a few. I gained so much knowledge and experience on hair textures and styling. Most importantly the health and condition of the hair is my top priority. On my spare time after beauty school class I volunteered my services and did some hair styling for hair shows and beauty pageants. I enjoyed working with the models created amazing work and build up my hair experience. I created ways to protect and care for your hair and the wig is your crown. Every woman should feel beautiful on the inside and out. I created different styles and techniques and keeping up with the latest trends. I get a lot of my inspiration from Paris Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Hair Shows, Bronner Brothers Hair Show just to name a few. I offer unique lash services by creating them with glamour. My passion behind the brand name “Hairglambyamber” because not only do I create wigs, lashes and brows but my brand represents a sisterhood. Every one of my clients has a self expression and personal creative style. I bring that creative style out of them. I value every one of my clients because the crown represents the Queens of every ethic background. All my clients can feel comfortable wearing my units because it will reflect their personality. Everything is custom to their liking from color to length preferences. My passion for them being heard and respected is very important to me. I choose the crown to be apart of my brand because it also represents the hard work and dedication. I put a lot of hard work in competing in numerous beauty pageants as a teenager. I learned so much and gained a lot of confidence in myself. During my modeling experience I picked up a lot of beauty secrets and new hair trends. Furthermore, while I attended college studying in another industry. I still kept up with my craft by still working on hair techniques and beauty blogging.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Today I’m still learning and creating new ways to advertise and market my brand to woman all over the world. I had a long journey on being able to get started with my brand. I learned that some of your family and close friends do not support you as much as a strangers supports you. I still pushed through that and continued to network with beauty industry professionals. In fashion and hair shows this really helped bring my brand awareness. Also, the confidence that i needed to succeed in this industry.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I was offered an opportunity in a hair show that really helped give me the insight on how to network and meet models and other very successful hairstylist and makeup artist they gave me a lot of knowledge on the beauty industry, I used the content to help build my brand and get new followers and network with people in the industry. Today I’m working on adding new beauty services to my brand. My goal is to continue to work hard and open a full service salon one day. In addition, still work and network with models in hair shows and fashion shows worldwide. I love what I do and I have more people to reach!!!!
